Weird controversial WWDC wish list item that definitely won’t happen:

Deprecate Metal and jump on the Vulkan bandwagon.

Vulkan -> Metal translation libraries are fine but lose some % of performance in translation.

We don’t need Metal AND Vulkan. Folks are writing new Vulkan code first and then either port it to metal or rely on the translation libraries.

Vulkan tools and documentation are excellent. Apple’s metal support - hit and miss.

It’s more of fertile environment than metal is.

It’s why they doubled down on USD and not GLTF for instance.

I really like metal development. But very little interesting is happening on metal.

The really interesting graphics stuff seems to be happening in Rust and not Swift and Vulkan and not Metal

MaterialX is kinda/sorta somewhat supported (but only on visionOS) but note that it isn't a Kronos Group product… Neither is USD… There's a trend.

We’ve got PRONGS BAYYYBEEE!

This dapper fella was eating foliage hors d’ouvres and then even stepped into the light for me to get better shots! (Too bad I only had my phone with me…)

You can see the more coppery orange summer coat here, but still with the darker forehead. His lighter chest is less prominent than in the winter coat.

As makes eye contact with the camera as both ears are turned toward the viewer. The velvet-covered antlers have at least 3 points on each, one point and two branching nubs. Ae stands next to a descending tree branch where’s the bottom folliage has disappeared. Conveniently it seems about the foliage around aer chest height.
Having finished with the descending branches, ae steps forward into the evening golden hour. Aer coat’s coppery brown color is very visible and the antlers and ears catch the light as well. Ae makes direct eye contact with the camera with a slightly off center head, maybe school portrait like
Ae is bored with me and my camera phone and turns into the golden hour. Sunlight catches aer nose, eyelid, ears, and body in a sculptural way. The golden brown and honey like colors juxtapose from green shrubs and branches nearby.

I have a value-based scene graph for 3D rendering. A declarative/fluent style API is rather appealing so I'm giving it a go.

Talked about making RealityKit work like this but obviously that isn't where it ended up.

Free AI product idea, most likely valuable to DigiKey or Mouser, whomever does it first:

“What is this connector?”

Train a model to identify every electronics connector sold. Ideally a secondary model learns sizing based on any references in the shot it can garner.

This will trim like half the posts in some electronics subreddits.
