I recently set up LineageOS on my rpi4 for this. With that setup, I think you’d be able to use the Android version of Moonlight. I haven’t used Moonlight before though, so not sure how good of an experience that is on Android. Since the official images didn’t support Android TV, I ended up using this version. Performance is a little slow in the menus (and very slow in the Twitch app, but that’s also true on the fire stick). I’ll probably give rpi5 a shot at some point in the near future to see if that offers better performance.

Bluetooth game controller works quite well (a little too well, the box notifies me when controllers are trying to sync), and works with apps like RetroArch and Jellyfin. I think it’s supposed to support AirPlay or whatever the Android equivalent is too, but I haven’t tried that. I also had to install gapps to sign into YouTube, but most other streaming apps I tried worked without it. Some of them require specific Android TV devices though, so a 3rd party app store or side loading may be needed for some of them.

I originally wanted to use Plasma Bigscreen with Waydroid, but I ran into the same problem of not being able to find an Android TV image. I did try building it myself, but that was taking too long so I eventually gave up.

Older generations didn’t fail us, the bourgeoisie did. Don’t let capitalists get away with reframing class struggle as generational struggle when that’s not what it is. Poor folks of past generations weren’t the problem. It was the ones wealthy enough to have political influence and control that were the problem. And that will continue being true for future generations so long as capitalism exists.

I was definitely like Kid B. My precalculus teacher once asked me, in front of the whole class, how many assignments I’d have done out of 10. To which I answered honestly with 2, making everyone laugh.

My trigonometry teacher was convinced I was cheating on tests since I barely did any homework, and had me take a test alone in front of her to prove I wasn’t. I did well enough that she believed me and stopped questioning it, fortunately.

Also had a teacher scold me one on one in elementary school over not doing homework, making me cry. I’m sure she thought she was helping, but all that accomplished was making me feel bad.

Didn’t figure out I had ADHD until my 30s. Hopefully things will keep getting better for kids as knowledge and awareness expand.

I did this for about a year on a Steam Deck after my desktop broke down, though with the caveat that I still had my Manjaro laptop as a fallback as well. Had to write some scripts to reinstall packages after updates (since system is supposed to be read-only by default) which wasn’t very fun, but it worked well enough for a while. Only reason I moved on was to get a better gaming rig for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Any cozy game recommendations?

Hii cuties! I am currently going through quite the amount of evil disgusting and bad dysphoria, so I would really like to distract myself from myself right now… Even though I am not a fan of consumerism, this is the one time I feel it is appropriate to consume some media. I do have a homebrewed switch and a computer running...

Moonstone Island is similar to Stardew Valley, with some Pokemon and Slay the Spire sprinkled in.

Graveyard Keeper also fits in that genre, though it’s more management than farming.

Or if you’re looking for a cozy puzzle game: Cocoon, Unpacking, or A Little to the Left are some good ones.

If you’re looking for something trans coded, there’s some shorter games that are pretty good: Secret Little Haven, A Normal Lost Phone.

I’d describe Ikenfell as a cozy RPG. You save the game by finding a cat to pet.

And Iris and the Giant I think is the only relaxing deck builder I’ve seen. Very calming.

I wrote about my experience here if anyone is interested in reading. The short version is that Life is Strange got me to actively question whether I was trans, as a result of me being absolutely obsessed with it and trying to figure out why I related so much to characters that were nothing like me on the surface. In all honesty, if it weren’t Life is Strange, it would have been something else. But that sure did speed up the process a bit.

It took me 3 years after asking myself directly if I was trans. I felt the need to figure things out independently for some reason. Partly out of shame and internalized transphobia I suppose.

I’ve been wanting to write more about it too - particularly about the weeks following that realization, which consisted of multiple revelations/epiphanies from recontextualizing things that had happened in my past under this new lens of understanding.

I relate to 6 quite a lot. I always said I never wanted a traditional wedding. It wasn’t until after I came out to myself and I imagined myself as a bride, that I realized I was mistaken.

I also started transitioning at 30, for what it’s worth. Would have been nice to have the effects of HRT earlier, but it’s also nice coming out while financially independent and without parental authority over your bodily autonomy.

Nice! I’ve been wanting to add pronouns to mine but couldn’t without removing the trans flag. Glad it’s fixed

open_agb_firm is another option for GBA games. Seems to offer better performance, particularly when it comes to audio. I played through Pokemon Emerald with that recently, and it was the only way I could avoid the distracting sound issues.

One of the funniest signs for me was when trying to design a VR game with a friend. For some background, it was a first person game where you can play pool remotely with others. With more of an emphasis on the social aspect than the game of pool. Didn’t end up getting past the design phase though (yay ADHD).

At some point in our conversation, I brought up player character model - whether you should even have one, what is should look like, etc. I mentioned being able to select or change gender of this model, but he seemed a bit confused by that, and told me it would feel a bit wrong or uncomfortable in VR to look down at yourself and see a different gender. This confused the shit out of me, so I responded something like, “Really? I’d actually prefer looking down and seeing myself as a woman.”

It would be another few years before my egg finally cracked.

When I switched from Reddit to Lemmy, I started using Feeder for news to fill that gap. I think my podcast app on Linux also uses RSS.

I also used Feeder with Nitter for a while to keep up with friends posting on Twitter (I never really got into Twitter myself). Though that stopped working at some point.

So yeah, RSS definitely still has uses today.

I agree that enjoying her work doesn’t necessarily make you a biggot, but it does mean you aren’t an ally. Your money absolutely does make a difference. She sees continued support of her works as support of her anti-trans ideas.

for fascist propaganda

Do you have a source on this? Everything I’ve seen them post has been left wing. Most of which was anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist.

I’m aware of what he’s done, but how is that fascist? Are you using some non-standard definition of fascism?

I found this blog post, titled The Null HypotheCis, to be pretty helpful when I was questioning. To summarize, basically it can be helpful to stop treating being cis as the default, and treat both cis and trans as equal possibilities. That can be a much better way to frame things, as it allows you to consider if you are cis in the same way you are trying to consider if you are trans. For me, that made it much clearer that I wasn’t cis.

So to put it another way - you listed a few reasons you think you’re trans, but it’s worth asking yourself what reasons you have for thinking you’re cis. And how do those two stack up against each other?

Looking for games with unique core mechanics

I’m requesting for recommendations for games that stand out from the rest in their genre, and not in the sense of being the best game in that niche but actually bringing something new and innovative to the table. I’ve not had much experience in gaming, but I have a few games to give you a hint on what I am talking about:...

sapphiria,
@sapphiria@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Life is Strange - At least the original, the sequels are not quite as unique. It’s an interactive story (though still in 3D) where you can rewind time to redo conversations, effectively making “save scumming” a core mechanic. The designers use the fact that you deliberate on your own actions quite well. The story is also pretty unique, but unfortunately there isn’t a good way to explain why without spoiling any of it.

Inscryption - On the surface, this seems like your run of the mill card game. But once you get familiar with the mechanics, some other genres start blending with it.

Edit: Should also add:

A Normal Lost Phone - The premise is that you find a phone that someone has lost, and you can use it to slowly uncover the story of the person who lost it and why.

The original anti work community on Reddit was more about the abolition of work, before being co-opted by work reformists. It wasn’t about just “pushing back”, but about abolishing the modern concept of wage labor under capitalism.

Money doesn’t need to exist, so your complaint about them just wanting things for free is ludicrous and strikes me as capitalist apologia.

I recommend reading The Abolition of Work to better understand the concept. At the very least, it would allow you to form actually compelling arguments against the idea so that you don’t have to continue showing your ignorance.

I disagree. I’ve been playing since launch, and 90 gold is still a lot. A lot of players (probably most) don’t do raids or CMs.

sapphiria,
@sapphiria@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I’ve been a bit underwhelmed so far. Hoping things get more interesting as I progress. I’ve only seen the first map so far, but it generally doesn’t feel like something new. Which I get is sort of the point with the story, but it just doesn’t provide the same excitement as Crystal Oasis did back when PoF launched.

I didn’t like the Wizard’s Vault at first - mainly because of the reduction in daily reward from 2 to 1 gold. As a more casual player, that seemed like quite the blow to my income. But later on I noticed I overlooked the 90 gold at 6 currency each. So I think I may even come out ahead with the changes. It’s also great to have a bunch of choices, especially regarding ascended and legendary gear.

I haven’t really touched the relics much either. I got one from the meta event and just equipped that for now to have something in the slot, but none of the options really seemed significant enough to care for now.

The any weapon on any spec thing, while interesting, doesn’t feel particularly useful as a thief. I’m also out of build/equipment slots to test out new builds - so I guess I’d have to use another character to figure out if any of those new combinations are worth it on my main.

So overall, I’m glad there’s more content, but I kind of expected more for the price.
