16yo and his girlfriend are methodically removing >15 stickers from the school issued Chromebook he has had since the start of the pandemic in 7th grade. It has barely worked for months, but he has not been willing to turn it in for a new one because of the stickers.

@agiletortoise I tend to put a clear clamshell case on the top of my MacBook and sticker that. Then I can pop off the shell later and keep the stickers. And the top shell only doesn't contribute to overheating.

One of the most amusing, yet legitimately vexing issues with Apple Vision Pro is opening an app, not seeing anything, and then realizing it's behind me (where I left it). "Let's see now, where did I leave that screen..."

People who track time across work and hobbies: what is your approach to remembering to start a timer?

Once every second year or so, I give time tracking a try, but I always stop after mere days or weeks because I keep forgetting to start a timer.

@simonbs I use launchers to start various activities which start a timer for me. I love Bunch on my Mac, and also tie into focus modes on iOS.

Life hack of the day: Type your image alt text into the captions field in photos, then you get autocorrect, and you can copy it every time!

Now to magic up a shortcut to share the images with the caption as alt text automatically.

Bonus: search is even easier 🤓

I haven't been able to get past the loading screen for several days, including via private browser session as well as my usual logged in mobile app and browser sessions. Other Discourse forums I can access fine ... so I'm assuming it's not just me.

Using Stage Manager on my iPad for the first time in a while, mostly because I need to test a rewrite of my keyboard avoidance code, but it actually works well enough now I could see myself using it…if I had a 12.9” iPad. A bit too claustrophobic on the 11”.

And another question! I want to add a blog to a static site. I want to use the same template as the static site. It needs very few features! I just want to post entries and have it update. I'm finding everything is very complex, when I just want Markdown or HTML inserted into a standard block within a page…

@glennf I went with Jekyll (https://jekyllrb.com) as you can make your own layouts and so on easily enough! I even threw mine into a public GitHub repo: https://github.com/RosemaryOrchard/JekyllBlog

Hugo is another great option, and I've got some friends who love Pelican!
