@HelenG that'd be the one! been a couple of years now that we've not had to touch a Windoze machine. the horrors of client-facing without even the theatrical prop of a progress bar still gives the shudders. as does users never restarting their machines.

Recently I started to sign up for Bluesky - mostly to read, not post. But sign up required a phone number. That was a dealbreaker for me.

Then someone else said it was a good way to recover locked accounts. They didn't like that Mastodon does not ask for a phone number.

So, what do you think? Is requiring a phone number for new accounts a good thing?

This question is only about social media, not bank accounts, etc.

Today was so cold and dank on the #allotment so prioritised pollarding elders on our plot and part coppicing to thin out a hazel on a neighbour's and processing all of the 'leavings' as the best way of keeping moving to stay warm. So now we haz some new hazel rods to remain bamboo free.

A whole new composting 'binbag' miraculously came into being today, plus more thinning/ pollarding of an elder.

A ladder leant up against a high branch of the elder. Some of the prunings scattered on the bed below, a pink trug is full with processed twigs and thinner branches. In the background on the next mulched bed the riddling 'workstation'.
Reverse view of previous, the potato bed heavily sheet-mulched with cardboard, weighted down with mushroom crates and similar containing rubble to be washed in the wind and rain, the leavings scattered whete they were guided down away from the danger zone: No baby trees (right of frame and immediately below the overhanging elder branches to be pruned) were harmed.
