i miss reading restaurant reviews on people's blogs. i hate reading them in google maps / yelp. absolutely no personality. maybe i'll go back to posting restaurant reviews on my own blog as well

@skinnylatte we went to an Italian restaurant in Hawaii last time we were visiting and my Italian American wife was pretty disappointed with the entire experience, but the real icing on the cake was a clearly very Italian man who was there and was absolutely OUTRAGED. He was FaceTiming his mother about how terrible it was and it really made the whole experience worth it. I would love to read his resulting blog post

Further Mac OS hilarity. I’ve got a folder in my user folder. I would like to set this as my default folder for the terminal to open in. Terminal does not have permission to start in this folder. Terminal can navigate to this folder just fine.

🤷‍♂️

There has to be an equivalent of Windows Terminal on Mac OS that doesn’t look like crap and actually lets you configure it sensibly.

What people forget about Luddites isn’t that they protest technology, it’s that they were protesting factory owners who used technology to create shoddy products while oppressing labor.

Editing to say: Whenever I hear someone say Luddites in a derogatory way, especially about , I try to offer them links about this and am surprised when some people still take an anti-Luddites stance

@skinnylatte I very much resonate with this thread. As a career software developer having worked on several projects I either am morally at odds with or just don't care about I have felt the draw to more tangible hobbies and less corporate products. I am very tired of big tech and corporate greed.

I've also recently become determined to use my technical skills to do some good in the world. Trying very hard to angle myself for a future job in conservation, if possible. Ocean stuff, ideally...
