My SwiftUI app Super Headache is built with my own async/await-based TCA-like framework. It was so intellectually satisfying to build. These beautiful puzzle pieces that connect together in these magical ways. But I have a strong distaste for it because it feels too much like engineering for the sake of engineering.

    Hey folks, does anyone maintain two separate profiles for "work" and "everything else / all the things"?

    I'm wondering if it's a good idea to try and maintain a handle that's more focused on apps and work stuff (e.g. @konstantin) rather than posting everything together here.

    @konstantin I tried that once, but it did not really work for me. From the other end, I usually (not always) like to have some personal life seep in through in the work profiles I follow.

    Every piece of missing documentation wastes a huge amount of developer time.

    For example, look at what we know about Swift's URL query(percentEncoded:) method.

    Without a description, does that that flag mean that percentEncoded is converting the original query to an encoded form? Or is the original encoded query converted to a normal form?

    The only way to find out is to open a Playground.

    Now multiply the time you spend doing that by hundreds of thousands…

    @kyle well music industry is back on all time high profits so I guess they can’t complain. I am sure Netflix is happy to have moved on from DVD rentals as well.

    @kyle it also made music piracy less appealing. Video chose to keep opportunities for piracy by gatekeeping in different ways (per producer, per geo-region)

    Laura had her purse stolen in Barcelona at one of those outdoor restaurants with smokers.

    Luckily, the thieves threw out everything they didn’t need - which was most of it.

    They took the visa/mastercards and cash.

    Surprisingly, they left the Apple Card (maybe it looks like a toy?) and the American Express (which I imagine is borderline useless in Spain)

    I'm in England for a bit, and as always, so jealous of the vegetarian culture here. Walking around London, I assured my kid: "any place we see that has a burger will also have a veggie burger." I know it's not 100%, but it's a LOT more common than in the US.

    @icanzilb wow! It's hard to imagine Spain being like that. FWIW, we lived in Paris for a while, and we moved back to Brussels because it was causing us too much stress. No shame in that (IMO).

    I've only known I was gay for a few years, but I really appreciate how all the friends I've spoken to about it have either been very supportive or haven't even cared at all.

    However, comments like this from a YouTube rando deserve an unequivocal response:

    • Yes, I support pride.
    • Yes, I consider myself woke.
    • Pride includes everyone; there's no LGB without the T.

    I've never sworn on Twitter in the 14 years I've been there, but as this is Mastodon: this person can fuck right off.

    Turning 3️⃣4️⃣ in style. (Listening to BTS.)

    When all is said and done I think I'll look back at 33 as a pivotal year in my life. I began transforming my career into everything I've wanted it to be, and I'm so happy that it's working. I started to get solutions for the hand I’ve been dealt with physical pain hand, and remain optimistic that I can beat this. And as important as anything else, my sense of self is strong, but the my sense of love from the people around me has never been stronger. 🩵🩷💙

    @konstantin not a big Eurovision fan, not a fan of the idea of “our national song of the year”, but still can’t help rooting for Belgium this year. Very catchy song, very joyful act.
