We’ve succeeded in making computers more like humans!

Years ago if you wanted to tell a computer what to do you wrote code it could understand, and it did exactly what you told it to… You had to get it right of course.

Today you just tell a computer what you want by talking to it like a human… and it responds like a human, making mistakes, giving you what you don’t want, or just lying to you.

Is this progress?

The most important thing I brought back from Iceland: A whole bunch of chocolate-covered black licorice. Strangely hard to find in the US! And yet there you can find it in every store!

@grimmy Oh yeah, switching could come in handy as well... anything to lower the amount of waste. Do I just need to load up the same color in all slots and set to the same color in software? Or is there something else to make it work?

Whenever I see posts about new EV models in the US, I’m always discouraged and immediately disinterested because of the price and size of the thing. More sub-$30K city cars with a tiny back seat, please!

(And yes, even $30K new cars is a huge amount. I don’t like this trend of borrowing huge amounts for cars either.)

@mathiasx I’m really leaning towards an EV for my next vehicle but really hate tiny cars. My Element was awesome but I downsized to a Forester which is still okay for 90% of my needs nowadays but I do miss being able to haul larger things or like put three adult bikes in the back.

@mathiasx Dana suggested we get a trailer and I pointed out I no longer have a trailer hitch and we have nowhere to store a trailer. I guess I’d rather have a medium sized car and I really hate driving with a trailer.

My CR-V had a hit hitch but just for the bike rack. I can fit my bike in the Subaru laying down but damn I do often miss the Element.

I always have a roof rack though!

@mathiasx @listrophy I sometimes ride in my coworker’s little Chevy Bolt and I feel cramped and claustrophobic in it… same in my wife’s old Honda Civic where I could not fully stretch out my legs… I don’t know how to get past that.
