    I’d be curious about your thoughts on the Linus Tech Tips statement. To me, that second to last paragraph is unnecessarily teeth-showy against an individual with which the company had a conflict. I don’t know who told them to do that, but it’s a bad look.

    I also suggest Linus not talk about this on his podcast.

    @ernie after all the Gamers Nexus stuff I unsubb’d and blocked their channels. There’s a lot better work being done out there by better people. I read the statement you shared and agree— it’s basically a threat against that person and against anyone who would say anything against the company. Even if that’s how they feel it says a lot that they said it out loud.

    @Justwes @christianselig I left Sony E after no longer feeling the system, hopped to Fuji’s X Mount and was happy for a bit but didn’t love the crop sensor situation (though I don’t think that’s an issue for most anyone… I felt more annoyance than anything) and after discovering you can mount E mount lenses on Nikon Z picked up the Zf. Killer camera. Get the 40mm kit lens. Also amazing. Nikon is back, baby!

    Kagi, once again showing what happens when a search engine's values are aligned with its users' instead of trying to find ways to SELL the users.

    I asked about macOS email clients and one of the results had a red shield. That's not normal, so i clicked it. 24 ads / trackers detected, and since they don't earn money when you see ads, they are motivated to warn you that that link might be something you want to avoid.

    @masukomi yeah I was looking at those plans… between the quad threat of dev/designer/photog/videog/woodworking… my searches are probably off the charts. Gonna need an unlimited plan! Have you hit your limit all yet? I’ve never really thought about how many searches I do.

    From The Verge… it looks like Twitter’s accountwall is intentional. Musk claims #Twitter was being “data pillaged.” Looks like they solved that problem!

    Debating picking up a 2019 27" iMac with a high end config at a cheap price. I kind of want to experience working with a true 2x desktop display and figure that its got at least 2 years left of OS updates. But then I look at the benchmarks vs a simple M1 mini…

    Like a lot of people, @gruber came to the late, and I don’t mean this to negatively critique his point of view on this but to defend the folks who very reasonably want to protect their culture, which they fought hard for and earned.

    Think of this in terms of gentrification. Having a cool coffee shop and art space took a lot of people coming together to build that thing. They didn’t build all that cool shit so that a big company could come in and build condos.

    @ernie @gruber I think also, as many people have noted… there’s a lot of history being ignored (MSFT and ActiveX, the thoroughly used tactic of embrace, extend, extinguish) and gestures wildly past behaviors from Meta/FB. Openness is good, but being willfully ignorant of who you’re inviting to dinner is dumb.

    @BasicAppleGuy it continues to make no sense to me. Multiple clicks into various screens, network and wifi are separate for some reason… I just do a search whenever I need to go in there… but I try to avoid it.
