Keynote/Zoom question. Can I (and if so how) present in Keynote over zoom so that I see the current and next slides but the others on zoom only see my presentation?

@dimsumthinking Yes: in the play menu, select “Play In Window”. When you play your preso, you’ll get two separate windows: the preso and your notes. Have zoom share the preso window, and you still get a mini presenter display (that no one else will see).

    I haven't been a personal Chrome user for quite some time now. My go-to browser these days is Vivaldi. Took a little getting used to in the early days, but I'm well past the initial pain period and am super happy with the experience.

    If you're looking to ditch $BROWSER for $REASONS (such as a privacy), give it a crack.

    Thought on . It's still a thing, and still deadly, but it's my impression that it's tapering off and becoming our new influenza. Just like the Spanish flu killed everybody and their dog and now we just have an annual shot and relatively low risk of serious illness, so too has Covid weakened and become less of a threat. It killed all kinds of people here during the , but my son has it right now and he's croopy, but I'm still allowed to work and nobody around here wears masks. 1/

    @gerowen Huh, ok, then. I’d say here (NY), vax rates are relatively high (but in no way 100%), so, most people that I’ve heard of getting Covid recently are vaxed, and they have a pretty easy time of of. Apparently, they hand out paxlovid like candy now as well.

    Is there such as thing as a MIDI selector box? I have 3 devices producing MIDI signals as controllers: my weecee from its joystick pin 12, my 486 from the same or from picogus if I had the cable for it, and from my vintage Mac.

    I'd like to have a simple slider switch that selects which is the chosen one to send to my midi module mountain. 1/2

    @1Bit The other option is a midi interface or hub. MIDI is designed for this - assign each synth to a different MIDI channel.

    @1Bit cool - just another option. I have this thing from probably 30 years ago - I call it a “MIDI Donut” - probably cost $20 at the time. It’s just a 1-in, multi out MIDI splitter. Same idea: you plug everything into the hub, but assign different channels to the synths. Works a charm.

    Santa-using Mac Admins/Security people: you really, really want to ensure that you upgrade to the latest v2024.2 release. Not only does it contain important bug fixes, you’ll need it before upgrading the OS to 14.4:

    pushing adventure game studio into territory it was never made for has always been a joy

    spent half of the day manually creating 2304 buttons on a GUI, for a 1-bit game i'm working on called Shima no Shima

    why? now players can create their own avatar's portraits and modify in-game art as they play the game. imagine a game that plays more like a hypercard stack: you have to modify the game itself in order to progress through the story.

    it was an idea that came from a game called Else Heart.Break() which went criminally unnoticed in its time.

    Made a font for my spouse for our anniversary:

    Zero gravity astronauts bravely circle distant exoplanets, navigating the vast universe through a starry cosmos, encountering fabulous nebulae, asteroids, and eventually approach a wayward zenith in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…to jettison spacefaring quokkas.

    I'll share files sometime in the next week when I get around to posting.

    I see that Travis Kelce losing his cool and shoving, then yelling at his coach is a meme now, and sure I get it. It’s also deeply not funny, but sadly typical of a testosterone-fueled sport. I haven’t heard that he apologized afterward, which would be a start, but still a flag. If you have someone like this in your life, they either need help to change, or you need to start to steer clear.

    If a regulating body is going to ban the sale of cheap SDR gadgets like because they can be used to do hypothetical crimes, certainly they are also working on a ban on angle grinders which are used for actual catalytic converter theft, right?
