I have a running personal theory that no one really pays attention to the Cannes red carpet unless they’re on it. I know it’s all over TikTok and Insta but it rarely feels like a “moment” anymore. It’s been overtaken by the Met Gala.

I started this Mastodon instance as an alternative to Twitter because I was tired of the noise and ads.

With this space, I’ve experienced the ups and downs of micro community engagement. It’s by no means a straightforward solution but remains an interesting alternative for those with an interest in fashion and style.

I know some find the UX off putting but I think this is such a valuable community!

Sewing this convertible Patrick Kelly one-seam coat using the pattern provided by Philadelphia Museum of Art leads me to learn more about the brilliant American designer.

Now whenever I wear this coat (made with Fibershed’s Climate Beneficial Collaborative Cloth), I am reminded of his legacy of joy and love.

I’m really proud to be part of Fibershed Design Challenge, that concluded earlier this week with a final showcase. I presented 4 garment prototypes that are made with regionally sourced textiles, have design longevity and zero waste pattern in mind. I hope there will me more opportunities like this in the future!

I have a male fashion critic friend who feels strongly that male fashion creative directors are often out of touch with their largely female consumers and should seek out a female mentor or muse for inspiration.

I think it’s a great point that we don’t talk about enough.
