All of Germany has themselves in a knot over digital train tickets. The risk here is not that your battery will run out or some imagined Datenschutz risk vector.

The problem is that the apps are fully and entirely dogshit.

@alper had high hopes for Amsterdam but their handling of kids tickets is also slightly silly as you can get them via the app nor at machines. Counters only 🙃

@dimillian last time I hit random feedback like this they offered to push the release live without resubmit if it’s urgent. Told them it’s urgent and only a re submit two days later did it. Fun.

„Thin, light and ‚wise‘“ is a good set of goals for EVs, and a lot more attractive than what the other SUV focused car makers have in their plans. I even like the prototype designs, this is going to be interesting when made into production cars. The „Honda e“ was amazing, though had way too little reach. Now iOS 17.1 has entered beta, I expect a lot of Apple folks are looking forward to their hack week.

Please may I humbly submit two small but important quality of life improvements for consideration:

  • FB9801678: Please make CLLocationCoordinate2D conform to Codable. If this doesn't happen before SE-0364 ships in Swift it's going to make SwiftData much more annoying.

  • FB9872266: Please give UITextChecker a modern, Swifty API. The current API is outright dangerous in Swift 😔
