The #EU could do more and do better without #Hungary's constant blackmail.

It's time to end it.

The only way Europe survives the next 10 years is by dramatically ramping up its military-industrial production.

We are not ready for a Russian attack, and Trump's America won't help us. Europe needs to start producing everything it needs itself, and fast.

I'm all for criticising and , but this post is seriously misleading.

The data described in the privacy policy is what is necessary to federate comments. Whether this implies they can then use this data for other purposes is still up for debate.

Doing so would likely be illegal in the EU though.

The Trilemma: or why AI won't be as revolutionary as we expect.

We are in the midst of an AI revolution... or are we? As business leaders around the world scramble to integrate AI into their products and business practices, the cracks are beginning to emerge. We've seen GPT4 fail at basic reasoning, Google's AI search telling people to jump from a bridge, Microsoft's copilot inventing quotes from Vladimir Putin, and recidivism algorithms that continue to send the wrong people to prison.

The panels on the and underlined the divide between policy-makers and devs.

To bridge that divide, I think policy-makers have to work to make the more accessible, which is why I decided to launch https://unfsckthe.eu/, a collaborative knowledge-base that will provide documentation for the EU, and help make it easier for the open source community to get their voices heard in

I've just tried the new #thunderbird Beta and... wow, I'm completely blown away. It looks amazing, seems to have threading, and is blisteringly fast on my terribly overloaded inboxes. Bravo to the @thunderbird team!

Recently, @ThierryBreton proposed building an #EU aircraft carrier.

I'd like to thank Apple for volunteering to finance it:

The up to €38bn fine for non-compliance with the #DMA will be enough to build four EU carriers, furnish them with jets and run them for a years!

As @jon quite rightly highlights: a hydrogen tram is about the single dumbest public transit idea this decade, and that, frankly, is saying a lot.

I'm really pleased to see so much variety in the space, but I'm not sure that having more and more and forks, none of which seem to have a solid reliable management structure, is that great an idea.

My take on the whole #Meta situation: concerns about lack of effective moderation on Threads are justified, however those on "Expand Extend Extinguish" simply aren't.

Chat Apps aren't as "opinionated" as social networks: people primarily used XMPP because it was federated. People like mastodon not just for federation, but because it has a friendly community feel they can't find elsewhere.

Threads could defederate, but it wouldn't cause the people who came to mastodon for these things to leave

Many of my compatriots have been bragging recently about how was right about

But as Russia pounds and Ukrainian soldiers face growing ammunition shortages, 🇫🇷 is blocking purchases of ammo for because it comes from outside the , again putting its defence industry before the Ukrainian soldiers' lives.

It's shameful: we pretend to want to lead EU defence, but only look after our own interests. CEE will never trust us.

Anyone know a good markdown editor for Gnome (Libadwaita preferably?) My favourite, "Paper", keeps crashing and hasn't been updated in a while, and Apostrophe isn't libadwaita yet ;(

Perhaps @tbernard or @alice know one ?
