Thuận's Chinatown is only partially translated into English by Nguyễn An Lý, using e.g. "thuốc láo" instead of the more familiar English word, "tobacco."

A more thoroughly translated edition might be more readable, but then, how would I feel special? 🤪

@kai Not the same, but it reminds me of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. That's an English book, set in Germany. He sometimes uses German phrases and then immediately follows it up with the English translation.
Like, he's just showing off that he knows German. It was so damn annoying. I really dislike that pretentious-ass book, haha.

Oldschool Runescape is very satisfying for me right now, in depression as I am. I get to watch various numbers go up. Experience numbers, level numbers, all that stuff. And it's very low-effort.

I think AI could have been cool and used for cool stuff, but the companies doing it are so shitty that many consumers don't want anything to do with it, even if a certain use of AI sounds pretty good.

My brother showed me an AI music video earlier today. The AI they used was trained on one artist's work, for which they got permission and paid him. I think that's a decent use of AI, and with this kind of mindset, people would be much more positive about AI.
It's not so much the concept of AI that sucks; it's how it exploits us all and we have no power to stop it. It's just one more way in which the current state of the world reveals itself to be strongly anti-democratic: we are all just tools to be used by corporations, and we have no say in it.

Sometimes I remember the plane flights I had in February. I still hold that planes are the worst form of transportation. And that's ignoring environmental concerns.

But I am also opposed to movement this quick. Capitalism is what requires this speed; time is money, after all.
It'd be nice if traveling meant taking one's time. And that there was the opportunity to take that time.

I believe it's good to have in-between time: time where you don't particularly 'do' anything, you're not working on a project, you're just... being. Traveling is an amazing opportunity for this, reminding yourself of the beauty of being itself.

I thought, if i travel somewhere by train, surely I'll feel the need to read a book.
But no. I don't wanna read. I don't wanna do anything. As it has been for a while.

Also, a kid in the silence part of the train is having a temper tantrum.
