helenslunch,

hope all you windows fans are …happy… asking apple microsoft for permission to use your own hardware.

It’s been this way for decades, really. Apple, Google, MS, etc. Even if they let you use it without an account, they’ll literally never stop pressuring you and annoying you into signing into an account.

helenslunch,

They do, actually. There’s a bunch of first party software you can’t remove, perpetual notifications you can’t clear about setting up iCloud, etc.

helenslunch,

i didn’t put an http either. I just assume people know what it is.

helenslunch,

Could just write a PlugIn for GrayJay.

Matter of fact, they have one that works already, just doesn’t work properly.

helenslunch,

“the future of social media” reminds me of “the year of the Linux desktop”. Like, what does that mean to you?

The most obvious explanation is that you think it will overtake corporate social media entirely. Or even exist anywhere on the same level. But that seems unrealistic.

helenslunch,

Tesla board member and close Musk confidant Antonio Gracias once took Musk’s phone away to prevent him from tweeting late into the night, Isaacson said during a Twitter Spaces event on Wednesday.

“At one point when Elon was firing off tweets without filtering them in the least, they were on a trip and Antonio took his iPhone — Elon’s iPhone — and locked it in the hotel safe with Antonio punching in the code so that Elon couldn’t get up at 3 a.m. and start tweeting again,” Isaacson said, describing Gracias as “one of Elon’s closest friends.”

Musk later got hotel security to open the safe at around 3 a.m. so he could start tweeting again, Isaacson said.

The biographer added that Musk is “almost addicted to the drama that comes with Twitter” and sees owning Twitter as a way he can be “king of the playground.”

“It’s something he loves — loves almost to the point of compulsion,” Isaacson said, adding that some of his friends, including his brother Kimbal Musk, attempted to convince him not to buy Twitter.

helenslunch,

Your statement is based on the premise that people will refuse to buy based on the PSN requirement. Decades of shitfuckery in the gaming industry indicate otherwise.

helenslunch,

Probably because Apple requires them to use specific hardware and then has to approve it. As per usual, Apple wants to control everything.

Android Auto works fine.

helenslunch,

It’s very stupid but there are AA/Carplay devices you can install to get them back.

helenslunch,

I have a Tesla. Their software sucks, and has gotten consistently worse over the years.

helenslunch,

It’s an open standard. Tesla is not needed for it to succeed.

helenslunch,

Tesla only delays Tesla.

helenslunch,

It doesn’t matter what they want you to believe, the connector is not dependent on their network.

helenslunch,

Those are delays for Tesla Superchargers, not delays in choosing a national standard. That’s already done. We haven’t fucked up anything. NACS is just a connector

helenslunch,

That particular infrastructure is private. EV infrastructure is not private. There’s nothing stopping any other private or public entity from expanding that infrastructure using the common open standard that has been adopted. Nothing of value has been sacrificed. Progress has merely been delayed.

helenslunch,

I’m gonna recommend Framework to everyone because not only are they built with Linux in mind, but they’re also built with repairability/upgradability in mind. Unfortunately I don’t believe these come pre-loaded with Linux, but honestly, if you’re comfortable using Linux, installing it will be the easiest part.

helenslunch,

Yes it is. That’s why their latest model is AMD.

helenslunch,

It might have been Tuxedo

helenslunch,

Not really crazy if consider they were just a tin can on wheels.

helenslunch,

Are people really watching movies on your phone? What’s wrong with you?

helenslunch,

His past experiences weren’t an indicator of how much he likes Linux. Just how complicated it is.

helenslunch,

Yes, that’s what I was saying.

helenslunch,

The attention usually comes after they start delivering vehicles. And people start seeing them on the street.
