How're words offensive? And why should I have to tolerate YOUR interpretation? I'm the one using the word. ASK me how I'm using it, don't TELL me. And if you don't like the way I'm using it, so what? It's my right. It's my freedom of expression. Without that, we're nothing but slaves.

I can't believe I'm about to defend Kier Starmer! πŸ™ˆ

So what?
Does being part of the Labour movement mean you must dress in clothes purchased from a supermarket?

And they're off!
So the two-horse race for the #generalelection2024 has started and already Rishi Sunak has made two mistakes. I have to agree with @peston's first prediction of a November election this would have given more time for interest rates to come down along with fuel and food. There would have been more time for more than just one person to enjoy the scenery of Rwanda. Secondly, why didn't he wait for 8 or 9 am this morning when there was less chance of looking like the gods were pissing all over him. #politics

dick_turpin,

@mooch Yep, the Conservatives are going to lose. I can't help feeling that there was a chance to turn things around if he'd left it as long as possible.

Reform UK is scary; they seem Ultra-Right-Wing to me, although I will say that having read their manifesto, they've got some bits that are worth looking at.

I have a feeling the Liberals might do well out of this. Tory voters who don't want to vote Labour might see them as an acceptable alternative.

I have this horrible feeling that it's going to be a replay of the local elections, and we're going to see Tory seats decimated in the House. 😒

Hmm? If Palestine is recognised as a State, that should cause problems for Israel.

dick_turpin,

@penguin42 I think the Israelis would be extremely happy if the Palestinians went to Jordan or some other country and let Israel have all the land. I don't believe they have any interest in coexistence,

I'm not convinced people realise just how serious this is.
bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-6902615… IMO, the advice is cursory at best: "Boil the water." The parasite is in the supply, which means any water out of your taps in the kitchen and bathroom, including the toilet.

Even when you do get the "ALL CLEAR," it'll take a good few days of running your taps and flushing the loo to clean the system out.

I love this: "Likely cause...." personally, I don't believe a word of it. The wording is 'get out of jail'. For starters, it gives them an opportunity later to say, "We did say likely, you know."

So, the theory being put forward by #ReformUK is a 20% tax relief on all private healthcare and insurance. The inference being that if more people take up private healthcare, there will be less demand on the #nhs. Sounds logical, right? The only problem is that we all know what will happen. If demand falls, so will the funding. Another "innovative?" idea is: "𝘊𝘢𝘡 𝘸𝘒π˜ͺ𝘡π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 𝘭π˜ͺ𝘴𝘡𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘴π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜œπ˜’ & 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘒𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷π˜ͺπ˜₯𝘦𝘳𝘴." so basically shipping our sick and injured to another country. #politics

dick_turpin,

In 2019, the Conservatives promised 40 new hospitals by 2030. So far, two have been completed, and five are still under construction. There are currently 124,000 job vacancies in the #nhs. The problem isn't money; our national health system is failing because it lacks the capacity to cater to an exploding population and because nobody wants to work in healthcare.

It takes a special kind of dedication to want to nurse sick and injured people, so while yes, healthcare workers should be paid a decent wage, offering huge salaries doesn't necessarily mean the vacancies will be filled overnight.

Just wondering how @VetsforPetsUK can justify Β£25.00 for emptying a dog's anal glands? Especially when it's not even a vet who does it? It takes four to five seconds to complete the procedure, and what if they're empty?

Oh, and then turn around and say: "You might need to bring him back in four weeks." That's Β£1200.00 a year based on every four weeks!
