@skyfaller @alexhillman now that the @potus threads account is sharing posts to the fediverse, it seems like it’s become more of a thing. Will this instance be allowing threads to federate?

cschrader,
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

@skyfaller @alexhillman that’s a very rational concern, thanks for clarifying

@ismh your article on the Jonathan is so wild. It’s basically an enterprise blade chassis you can buy today, but decades too early.

There’s some technical detail here about how Meta’s integrating Threads with the fediverse.

@mattblaze it’s such a great building. I remember reading somewhere that the golden dome on the roof was used by pilots for navigation in the early days

I am currently watching Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and I’m happy to report it holds up very well.

Rewatching a kids movie from the 80s is a risky move because it could be super problematic in various ways, but this is so pure

cschrader, (edited )
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

Considering the age, the effects are really good. The huge bugs are convincingly gross, the motion is just a little bit off.

cschrader,
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

Rick Moranis is so good. But you knew that already.

cschrader,
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

It is SO 80s. Huge shoulder pads, floral print sweaters, perms, a Skateboard, a Walkman

cschrader,
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

We are now watching Ferngully, and this movie also holds up well. It’s surprisingly pro environment for 1992, has good voice acting (Robin Williams and Tim Curry!), and the animation is gorgeous. It’s partially hand drawn, which is probably why it stands out for 90s animation.

It’s disappointing that data transfer tech skipped over things like crystals and went right to wireless. 90s sci-fi got it all wrong.

@bigzaphod I’m a little disappointed “upload the files to the inside of Henry Rollins’ head” didn’t become a thing

@macstories have you all thought about doing a Logseq review? I was reading about it last night, and it kind of surprised me I didn’t see anything about it on the site. It seems to align well with the type of fussy productivity tools you all cover.

@marcoarment I have only used it with satellite and aerial imagery to make large mosaics, but the application agisoft metashape may be able to make decent looking (huge) panoramic photos for you. Pix4d is another option

cschrader,
@cschrader@jawns.club avatar

@marcoarment they can also make 3D models out of a series of photos, which might also be useful with a vision pro too?
