We’ve always told devs that browsers prioritize what to implement based on dev demand.

There is one exception: .

SVG is used on >65% of websites. Yet, browsers have been refusing to work on SVG, ignoring pressure and pain points from web devs.

Tons of work (SVG 2, fill & stroke, and more) has sat unimplemented for years. At this point, in standards circles, we know not to touch SVG with a barge pole.

@leaverou If you follow @anatudor, you'll see a lot of posts about SVG, with caveats "this works in X but not in Y, and this other thing works in Y but breaks in Z"… definitely would love to see SVG get some attention at least for interop!

While not functional on Firefox (yet!), I had a little fun with @​​property on @codepen in #CSS. What I love is that the conic gradient's angle is reused with sin/cos in CSS to animate that (extremely realistic 🤡 ) text-shadow + subtle box-shadow in an arc, not a straight line! MATHS!

A dark button in a dark environment with a intermittently solid cyan border (its opacity varies around the button). As the button is hovered, the border's "gaps" move around the button. and a glow behind it grows while following this movement around the button. The text also has a slight shadow (unrealistically white, to make it easily perceivable) which moves in an arc as the border animates, as if the border's glow is casting a light on the text, which in turns casts a shadow.

#CSS: AFAICT, it’s not possible to hide all HTML .fragment elements after one with the marker class .current

@rauschma The selector you're after is .current ~ .fragment, :has(.current) ~ .fragment but I wrote it specifically for your example. A more complex DOM structure would require a more complex selector list.

How should I read the values for box-shadow-position in the formal syntax of box-shadow on MDN?

It says &lt;box-shadow-position&gt; = [ outset | inset ] which I read as: the value is either outset or inset. But I know outset is not supported. It is the default behavior, not the default value.

Maybe I need a documentation of these formal syntaxes… 😅

@nhoizey Not sure it helps but with Sass you can use $type: " "; and use unquote($type) in your shadow function, or --type: unquote($type); to convert any Sass variable to a custom property. It's cumbersome, for sure, and I wouldn't want to have to write it, but if you really have to…!

Updated my Gaming Library page, you can click the title on the spine of a game and it'll open a dialog with more info about it. Recently integrated the PSN API to show trophies and even an icon if relevant. APIs are cool. (manually mapping API IDs to your Notion list, not so cool, but it is necessary!)

PS: Don't try to change the completed status — rude. Also I didn't copy the idea from somebody I look up to with their NYC checklist, nope. 🙃

Starting to think the custom og images I use are more hassle than they're worth.

Like if I toot a post I've done, the title is there anyway so the image doesn't really add anything.

@robb I took mine away a few years ago because it was a bit of a pain to remember to make it (it was basically a complex URL built with Cloudinary's API and an Unsplash image, fun but ultimately not very useful).

For what it's worth, if you just used your logo in the small form factor, I'd click it all the same, though I could imagine variations like your "RK" logo and "Blog" sitting below in a smaller font size, still fitting in a square. (it's what I've been thinking about anyways!)

@nhoizey I see if with uBlock Origin on, and it disappears if I turn it off. Seems they entangled "tracking users" with "loading content". Google's gonna Google I guess. 🤷
