The post is finally updated with rebuttals to OP's points, along with some selected replies. While these allegations seem compelling, but there are flaws to OP's "leaks," especially since the lack of understanding of how the industry works, especially in regards to outsourcing (You will be surprised that known Studios will be in the credits too of the shows you watch).

Now, if we had accounts from people who are working on the project in Japanese, it would be more plausible, since we know things are lost in translation.

Clarification on some discourse being brought up

1. Why is the joinsharkey.org site not available

A: the site was very buggy and wasn't of much help and we currently don't have the resources (as in developers) to work on a new one, as we like to focus on Sharkey itself not marketing, we have started redirecting the domain to the documentation and have fixed any links in the docs.

2. Sharkey funding for server hosting issues is used to run a minecraft server

A: We did have hosting issues but those were not responsible for the website being down. Sharkey is a project of TransFem.org, that means it runs on the same servers as TransFem.org, we did have a funding campaign for collecting funds to use for hosting TransFem.org this was reposted on the Sharkey account as Sharkey is a part of TransFem.org, it was also stated that said money would be used for hosting TransFem.org and it was never said it would solely be used for Sharkey, with that said yes there is a Minecraft server running on the same servers as Sharkey is, that being the TransFem.org servers which said Minecraft server is for. just like the TransFem.social fedi instance that runs on the same servers because its part of TransFem.org

3. The lead is just playing minecraft instead of working on the project

A: this is partially false, the project lead isn't much involved in actual development and more in sysadmin and management and has recently taken a bit of a break for mental health reasons and started playing on the modded minecraft server, that said they are still helping out when they are needed and this has no effect on Sharkey whatsoever

please keep in mind we are just a bunch of hobbyists working on this software, we do this for free, in our own time, the money we make with donations goes to hosting costs of the entire TransFem.org

I'm of course thinking about drining out to VCF East swap meet that is on June 22nd and see if I can get a project machine, preferably a Power Macintosh 8600/9600 or one of those Mac clone towers to put this G3 upgrade card in. I have a Rage 128 I took from the Power Mac G3 B&W (it has a Radeon 7000 right now) to put in along with a USB adapter.

Not sure if I will take the SATA PCI card I have in the B&W G3 and put it into this machine. I don't need another Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X Tiger machine since my G4 MDD does that better, but I will need to get another SSD.

Probably need to get another BlueSCSI for that too, even if I can take out the two port SATA card I have from the G3, I would need to get another SSD. Also, can't easily load up disk images like with a BlueSCSI.

I'm curious, is there anyone want to resurrect this, maybe making it a community led effort. Maybe suggest vote on topics to cover through the month or have users take turns hosting it. Or maybe if there is someone willing to take it over.

Sure, its sad to see this go, but maybe we should make it a community lead effort instead of just managed by one person.

Any ideas?

If you self host WordPress, you don’t have to use Jetpack. There is a bunch of alternative that give most of what Jetpack provides, which they want money for, like basic stats for $9. ​:yor_knife:​

I don’t get why Japanese Anime Studios just ditch Twitter already and move over to Misskey. I have been looking at user numbers at thee official Misskey server has been getting about 1k new users a day, probably thanks to Skeb officially becoming sponsors with Misskey Io.

If the Japanese anime industry just ditch the cesspool known as Xitter, it will give a boost to the Fediverse, especially since most people on Misskey Io probably watch Anime anyway.

Bookwalker has radically reset the way coins work, as they change over to points…and frankly, I don’t think it’s a good deal for users. You can no longer apply points to totals, only purchase things in full with points

I didn't realize Bookwalker changed their coin system since I have like 24483 coins in BookWalker, but I primarily use the Japanese side since I only read Japanese content.

Still, sense some #enshittification of Bookwalker with this change. ​:meowfearful:​

This is why centralizing the Fediverse to Mastodon Social is not a good idea. Not to mention, big servers that don’t cater to your main interests is generally not a good idea.

Hopefully Anime fandom will realiae this and move to smaller servers like Sakurajima, Urusai, or Blorbo.
