Trying to get my head around how to organise a #Rust project where you have to deal with "crates", "packages", "modules" and "libraries" each of which means something slightly different.

I guess the reason why so many Rust source files are 1000+ LoC is because figuring out how to split them up is too much of a pain.

#Nix turns out to be not so great for exploratory programming. I'm in 3-4 different projects/languages on a normal day and its all continuous misery.

Today: Can't add mysql80 to a flake.nix and have it run easily (because which person developing a project would ever need a database server).

It's absurd how much of a non-problem this is with Homebrew.

These past weeks I've gone into our school every day to look at the Vertretungsplan (which teachers are out and replaced by whom) because otherwise I would have no idea which teachers are sick when.

Turns out not everybody likes that. Today the school person standing there invoked Datenschutz and said I'm not allowed to take a pictures or write down anything that's on there. I said that was preposterous because I need to let my wife or other parents know what kind of schoolday is coming up.

The javascript ecosystem consists almost entirely of tools disagreeing with each other whether to use require or import to retrieve code. I've never seen something remotely as bad as this.

They handed our kids a goodie bag with some odds and ends they had left over from the campaign in a weak ploy to catch some votes.

I think we can agree that this is reprehensible but is this even legal?

Cool that we can regulate electric scooters into uselessness in cities but to digitally regulate the speed and parking behavior of cars (almost all of which come equipped with onboard GPS and electronics) is not something that’s even being discussed.

Instead carmakers put forward proposals to GPS tag school kids so that their cars might avoid them.

Scooter app notification about designated low-speed zones.
Scooter parking ban notification (“Sorry you can’t park here”) in app in an area where there are designated cluster areas.
