Normally I would vote for the Greens but I think they deserve to suffer for two major mistakes they made:
Their hardline positioning on the Gaza war is not new (Özdemir and others have expressed similar in the past) but it's entirely opposed to their professed values of human rights and equality. A serious case of "Progressive Except Palestine".
Nothing and nobody forced them to take this position so this error is entirely self-inflicted. That is even worse than 1. #europawahl#eu2024
The AfD is the German nazi party. They'll say whatever vile things they need to get elected and once they're elected they'll collude with the rich and sell the country out to Putin. They'll also destroy whatever is still working of the institutions.
I'm not entirely clear why the other political parties cede so much of the frustrated electorate to them. #europawahl#eu2024
Imagine chat, calls and information management provided by Microsoft so at the functionality level of Teams and Sharepoint. AI for your org will be garbage in/garbage out.
What’s annoying about the AI participants trend is that everything you say in a meeting will now be transcribed and archived forever. How many f-bombs do you want me to drop in a meeting? https://mastodon.social/@kjhealy/112553850995965423
The social norm that makes it acceptable to take calls here should be extended to also allow anybody passing by to photo bomb the participants. https://rls.social/@alper/112557198880057366
Savage issue of Chartbook about Germany's paralysis: “In 2020 the German general public suffered a dramatic blow to their previously deeply entrenched complacency, a blow from which they still have not recovered.”
A good moment to compare the German political incompetence when it comes to flooding with the Netherlands.
There water management is organized across municipal boundaries and is not really democratic. There are elections for the water boards but nobody cares about them and they’re a fig leaf for a technocratic administration. https://mastodon.online/
Can Germany reform its political structure and institutions to match?
The Netherlands built up an institutional memory over 1000 years on this topic. Germany’s structures only go back 70 years and there is a paralysis everywhere to reform even the smallest thing.
Blablabla we need to digitalize things (this time for real). Blablabla democracy is important (even if all the parties are the same). Blablabla Datenschutz is good actually (for people with no actual problems).
Take a fucking look around you. How do you think things are going? #republica
The javascript ecosystem consists almost entirely of tools disagreeing with each other whether to use require or import to retrieve code. I've never seen something remotely as bad as this.
@alper It’s a trade-off though? Not investing in deep understanding might take more time in the long run? It might be hard to judge how investment might pay off (leading to the copy-paste behavior) but there must be someone in the org who’s interested in becoming an expert?
