So, if I don't want #Meta to surveil me should I block their instance from my instance? From what I read, as soon as I interact (in some way) with their instance, they start hoarding my data?
@muiiio Anything you post publicly on Mastodon (or any other fediverse platform) can be ingested by anyone who wants that data, regardless of what domains you block.
@muiiio@pixelfed I don’t think activitypub has any way to distinguish licenses like that, so if your posts are public and viewable from other fediverse platforms then no one outside a Pixelfed instance would even see that. That seems like a larger problem with the fediverse overall.
@hirad@CartyBoston Came to say this. There's one person I follow that I enjoy her original posts, but they boost probably 30+ posts a day and it got to be very spammy. Hid their boosts and I'm back to being a happy camper.
@dansup I think implementing user blocks is definitely the way. The hardliners that don't want Meta to enter the fediverse are never going to win out in the long run. If Meta wants to join the fediverse, they will. They have too big of a user base for that not to happen. And right or wrong, the people against it are fighting a losing battle. Better in my opinion to figure out how to live alongside Meta's presence here.
@zed@parkerortolani You have to enable it on Threads. Also, he can see if someone from the fediverse likes his post (though not who) but he won’t be able to see any replies. Replies are just one way at the moment.
