Johnny Mnemonic: Reloaded (1995)

I haven't watched this in years and I don't remember too much about it apart from lots of cool names and a Hollywood cash in on the internet / cyberpunk craze.

This is the Reloaded edition, a fan has edited together both cuts of the film (US & Japanese) to create a longer, fuller cut.

To some of you who replied to my #NowWatching toot from yesterday, I think you took this film far too seriously, but it's not without some problems.

My review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)

The film that caused Sean Connery to retire!

From brick builder Angus MacLane, if you recognise it, I think it'll make you smile. I certainly had a little giggle. 😁

Well, this looks like it could be really really good but that's the point of marketing right?

I wonder if they'll do a film without any of the old crew, it feels like, without that connection, it won't be as good. It's a series of films to very slowly pass the torch.

Sony did also announce a full length animated film ages and ages ago. I'm not sure if that's even a thing still?

@LaserdiscTurtle @TheBreadmonkey Final word on Highlander II, Ewan, does your edit include the fairy tale ending?

Ben, if you haven't seen it, YouTube it. OMG! Surely someone should have read that and just said stop. Maybe an executive replied, at least give it a go it might work.

The charity shop run in a local town today and there was so much nostalgia but I didn't end up buying anything for myself. Check out this lot!

A bootleg copy of the Star Wars DVD saga. It's covered with the DVD9 logo which is the pirates letting you know they're dual layer discs.

Classic PC games boxed and a Bigtrak! I would've loved a Bigtrak as a kid!

A boxed copy of the PC game Wing Commander III. The front cover features a picture of the games star Mark Hamill and a Kilrathi, they're like big lions.
A boxed copy of the PC game, Star Wars: Rebel Assault.
A Bigtrak. A toy from the 80s. A six wheeled vehicle that you could program in order to tell it where to drive.

Had to get one of the wife's PC building friends over to figure out why we couldn't get the PC working.

Long, long story short. My son ordered the AIO cooler with RGB as the plain one wasn't available. The new motherboard has 12v RGB, the cooler uses 5v.

Also the CPU was running at 80°c before the friend found a bios setting to run the cooler properly.

All working but no RGB. But I have found a 12v to 5v adapter on Amazon, need to see if my son is bothered about Flashy lights.

I know technically it's a sci-fi horror but I'm not sure I want it that horrific. Maybe I'll wait for the home release so I can use the sofa as protection. 😊

/Rant.

Did you vote for Brexit? Why? How was the EU affecting you pre-2016 or did you get wound up by liars in the media?
Did you even care about sovereignty before 2016? Why was it important to get worldwide trade deals when we were part of a massive trading bloc already?

Have I just been shopping? Yes! Are half the shelves empty? Yes! Are prices steadily rising? Yes.

Don't know why I'm really feeling it today but there you go.

Paramount have made an odd decision with their 4K release of Once Upon A Time In The West.

Bill goes into fine detail about the film and why that could cause issues for a digital presentation.

Paramount seems to be saving money and the film has been compressed onto a 66gb disc.

If you have access to the Kaleidoscope service, you can download the film which comes in at 87gb!

Compressing the film by a ⅓ to fit on a disc hasn't helped the quality.

Whilst browsing AliExpress for parts, I checked a famous movie franchise and found this sticker for a couple of pounds.

Unfortunately it was a square and I had to trim it to a circle but it looks wonderful on the laptop, nice and reflective.

If you get the reference, 🤜🤛 respect. 😊

Completed Couch to 5K, week 2, run 1 today. I definitely need this slow build up again. Just like last time, I feel like I might not be able to do it, but I keep on going. I have rather a good mind over matter, which seems to keep me going.

Not too much praise, please, this is the third time in three years I'm doing this. 😂

Oh! I completely forgot it's Aliens Day! A marketing ploy from 20th Century Fox. 😂

Why today? It's April the 26th. 4 + 26 = LV426, the name given to the planet where humanity discovered the devastating killing organism.

I don't know if anything will happen today, usually companies reveal merch. But here is an oldie from me, when I tried to give AvP: Requiem another chance in 2021.

With the imminent arrival of Loops, I was going to use Openshot to create my first video but apparently KdenLive is a lot better.

The favourite comment I saw was that OpenShot was a Fisher Price video editor in comparison. 😄

@Tusky Hi gang. I'm assuming it's a beta problem, but I've noticed that not every toot can be translated. For example, the one I've linked to below is obviously french but the translate option doesn't appear for me. Also, some friends Dutch toots don't translate either.

— Weird Al Yankovic's film, UHF, is coming to 4K.

Me: Yay!

— It's being released by Shout Factory in the US.

Me: Oh bugger, import costs.

— It comes with posters, magnets, and other pointless gubbins.

Me: I just want the film! Who needs a 6” high UHF Remote Control Stress Relief Collectible!? What are the extras?

— Don't know, they're currently in production and the set will cost $130.

Me: ARRGGHHH!

Back in the 90s, when I bought the first Kerrang! compilation album, it contained a song called Control by Puddle of Mudd.

I took my boom box to Reading festival that year, and we used to sing that song out loud as it has a lyric that reads, “I love the way you smack my ass”

I bought their album based on that one song and really enjoyed it.

Now, over twenty years later, I'm listening to the rest of their work.

Very agreeable grunge.
