Please boost for reach. My dad and I both have iPhone SE second generation (2020) phones. For several months he has complained about intermittent sluggishness when doing just about anything involving a change of focus E.G. unlocking the phone and going to the Home screen, opening an app (whether it's already running or not), etc. Turning VoiceOver off and back on again usually fixes it temporarily, and so does restarting the phone. Sometimes making a change in some settings such as unpairing an old Apple Watch that he wasn't using would fix the problem, again temporarily. I hadn't experienced the problem until last night when it reared its ugly head on my phone. A restart of VoiceOver fixed it for me, and I thought I'd found the magic solution, only to have him tell me that's a very temporary fix. Both of us are totally blind, so we can't tell if the phone itself is slow to launch things, or if it's VoiceOver that's taking much longer than normal to react to changes on the screen. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, do you know of any solutions? Would getting an iPhone SE third generation fix it? What about resetting the phone and erasing all data, then restoring from iCloud? Thanks for any help.

@jaybird110127 Have you tried using a different VoiceOver voice, to maybe see if it's a TTS thing? And/or running a memory and disk scanner app to clear the ram? (I don't have that specific device myself, but have used iOS in some form or other for years.

@evilcookies98 You can use it without a paid license; they'd just rather you got one. I've been using it for several months now, and if will eventually get the license when funds allow.

Over the past couple of months, I have learned that the following things are guaranteed not to work. Trying to plug your headphones into the SD card reader.
Trying to plug a USB device into an HDMI port.
Trying to use the computer when you’ve put one of the batteries in the keyboard backwards.
Trying to disconnect from a TeamTalk server while in the TweeseCake window.
Trying to set up windows while your computer is sleeping.
Trying to adjust the volume on a muted computer.

OMG! File under funny doggy-daycare moments: I was getting ready to scan the barcode on the box from the baby gate that @TheZooLady had bought last night, and i idly "played drums" on the box. The #husky #puppy we bought the gate to contain started barking her head off and flipped out, and hid under TheZooLady's chair to hide until we were done making various percussion noises. Crazy pup. @actuallyautistic @neurodivergentblind Curious if this is an #ActuallyAutistic thing, a #NeurodivergentBlind thing, or just a me thing. Sounds that, when identified, don't remotely faze me will drive me up a wall if I can't either perceive or envision what is making them. It's almost like the unknown factor triggers me more than the sound itself.

I joined mastodon today because the CEO of had a complete meltdown recently when people called him out for deleting a trans woman's blog because she posted a transition timeline. The vibes were definitely off, just doesn't feel like a safe place right now. I'd love to follow more and folks on here! This is my second social media account (third if you count myspace. omg should I go back to myspace??) so I need all the help I can get with navigating this place.

@asaflowerblossoms As far as I know, MySpace pretty much died ages ago. Unless it somehow either managed to come back or just never actually died. I never was on there myself.
