Seattle Fire Department Search & Rescue Dog 'Rojo' On A S.F.D. Boat
Elliott Bay, Puget Sound (May, 2021)
Nikon D3300 / Tamron 16-300mm
I got to photograph Rojo when i saw him on a Fire Department boat that came up to a little floating dock extension on one of the big docks on our waterfront here in Puget Sound / Elliott Bay.
I just awoke and Amazon had already delivered the things i was expecting today.
I got many new things for my kitchen and also got some new towels. Today i get to wash everything, find new places for it and also feel as though i'm doing well at this adulting thing. :)
Today is going to be a game of culinary themed Tetris here apparently.
I have a tiny kitchen with limited space and now have to figure out where to put all these new things. Some already have places i planned for but not all of them.
I did just manage to get the handles affixed to new pots and pans i bought after accidentally putting the wrong handles on the wrong sizes.
I may be 48 but i'm still a work in progress when it comes to adulting. Anyone who knows me irl will confirm this.
I really am excited though to own these things. I will be able to cook for the special person in my life and they are great at cooking and will also be able to cook with me and teach me things here when they come over.
I've lived here for 7 years now after being homeless for 6 years and while i got many 'normal' things people put in their homes i admittedly mostly focused on synths and drum machines because those make cool sounds.
Recent news reveals that Windows Terminal will soon have AI capabilities, thanks to GitHub Copilot. While it may be useful for Windows users, as a longtime Linux desktop user, I personally don't want this feature in my Linux terminal. I am concerned about transferring my data to for-profit corporations like Microsoft or Google. It's important to be cautious about what we wish for. Additionally, I'm confident that I'm still smarter than these AIs ;)Do you want AI in your terminal snooping around?
@mjgardner I will admit that part of me is torn when presented with this information.
On one hand saving lives through donating organs is a great thing, i am an organ donor. I don't know how to feel about this, i find it disturbing but also recognize it can save other lives.
I think i'm going to have to ponder this some more, perhaps this is the future i should anticipate is possible for myself being a donor.
Sometimes you just need to lay down for a little bit. A pillow under your head and a favorite plushie under your arm for a few helps recharge your batteries.
I still need to go out and get Rx's at the drugstore today but i need a horizontal moment or two beforehand. It's nap o'clock.
Some people might think i'm weird for still liking plushies but truth is, they have helped a lot with anxiety and depression at times. They also help me sleep better.
I have a bunch of different kinds, several types of animals and they are all great but i'm huge fan of plush horses. I collect Wells Fargo ponies and they seem to have the strongest sleep magic. I now own 7 but this older mobile pic is of 5 of them.
I can't stay awake if i hold one and close my eyes.
@brunty I dual boot Ubuntu Studio for audio work and Qubes OS here.
Qubes OS though is a platform independent hypervisor based OS that uses Fedora for its desktop. It also has Whonix and Debian templates. It can run anything though inside of a Qube.
@darth I use Linux and Qubes OS here. I agree with you for the most part but unfortunately there are times where Windows or Mac OS is needed for some things still (And i'm not happy about this)
I am an electronic musician who uses hardware instruments and the driver updater tools from a few companies will not work on Linux, you will literally brick your device even trying such a thing. They are temperamental at best even on supported platforms.
This week, in our #Linux and #OpenSource News video, we have more work on HDR support, #Ubuntu improving their PPA system, and a security flaw in #KeePass, the open source password manager, plus #cinnamon being adopted by more distros, and a new XFCE spin.
My birthday wish is that all of you find a moment of peace to reflect on all of the people or pets that have brought joy into your life. Both big and small.
Reach out to them. Thank them for the role they’ve played.
And then pay it forward to someone you love that’s close to you.
