It’s bad. I’m not just saying that, I have tolerated a lot of site ux changes that other people hated (Slashdot beta?!), but the site is so much worse now. All the posts in r/help are about how bad it is. I haven’t seen an official announcement so I’ll try to summarize the obvious changes:...
I never tried anything other than old.reddit.com. And I’ll never try the dreadful reddit app. Redesign has always been trash and terrible at loading content and pushes trash topics at users.
Haha yeah it actually shows what a huge initial advantage it even is to be able to get a chance to act in the industry, and highlights how they could have not been in the industry without nepotism. There’s a lot of talented people but only so many people the industry is willing to give a look, so relationships really matter if you don’t want to rely on lottery type luck. Industry doesn’t have a shortage of people.
If I were him only thing worse than being called a nepo baby would be my mom coming out publicly to tell people not to call me a nepo baby. That’s like further drawing anything to the issue and as embarrassing as a student would be of their parents loudly telling everyone in school to not be bullies.
Depends on the industry. Degree based ones like medicine or accounting and or trades are easier to get into the industry to make a comfortable living for the average perdon. Now upper tier is another matter, and that does heavily benefit from relationships if going for like high management level positions.
But, the art and performance based ones like movies and music is one where relationship definitely is heavily shifted to being important, and talent and work ethic guarantees nothing. And financial security is very unstable and hard to attain for the average person to grind it out, so every advantage matters to even be considered for a job that could end up being stable.
So nepotism doesn’t discount their talent or hard work, but there’s no need downplay the role it played to even get a shot.
I would be grateful to be in a position to be called a nepo baby. That means my life is pretty good and I wouldn’t want to struggle unnecessarily if I don’t have to.
Same I know him from The Boys and never thought of him as the nepo baby, but now I’ll always be reminded of that. Didn’t know he was Meg Ryan’s kid either.
Yep, with move towards disc’s becoming glorified license checks that allow you to download the game it’s piracy that will end up actually preserving anything.
Only reason I gave it a chance was that the source material was complete and considered well written, and having read it after season 1 I can confirm show should be in good place. Even if it isn’t I don’t care, since unlike Game of Thrones the source material is actually available.
Problem with a lot of shows is that they start off strong then get worse and worse as they drag it out as it gets more popular. Kind of felt like it is headed that way with how the last episode ended up feeling like a sitcom of everything just returning back to the status quo with some slight changes to up the stakes, but it really remaining the same. So it did feel like show should be coming to an end soon anyways. Plus, with how dragged out hiatuses between seasons are now days wrapping things up sooner is not something I have issue with.
I have no hopes like I had no hopes for Halo. When it comes to games it is more in the territory of prove you don’t suck as opposed to I believe you’ll be amazing.
Yeah, hate haggling. Never know if it is actually a good deal, and tracking prices and deals is so unreliable compared other goods with the way those have historic price tracking recorded on sites like camelcamelcamel or keepa. Keeps consumers in the dark with only a broad idea of what isn’t a scam price and making the experience as exhausting as possible to extract money from them.
I enjoyed the first game. Didn’t really like the other entries, but the first once did a great job with the soundtrack and a vibe that made things feel nostalgic.
I wonder what would be said if isthereanydeals is pulled up as evidence, and shows games listed cheaper than steam on other stores. Pretty much reason a majority of my Steam games have been bought outside of the Steam stores, since I’m able to consistently get the games cheaper with better earlier discounts.
Is it listed retail price that is being talked about as opposed to sale price?
Games like Risk of Rain Returns is selling cheaper than it’s ever been on Steam. I use isthereanydeals often to check current and historical pricing before buying a game.
Isn’t that what sale is with it being sporadic? Retail price is for people who can’t wait for sales and need it now.
Not sure how retail price would be used. Permanent price drops are rare for pretty every purchasable good out there beyond digital games with companies saying something is X% off leading to more purchasing with consumers thinking they are getting a deal.
Publishers I believe are also the ones with power to fill the market with Steam keys to then have it priced however they want and including them in bundles that are sometimes less than the price of just the game alone during a sale. Some publishers opt to not make steam keys available at all.
As consumer it’s just unusual to see accusations of price fixing, since I can so easily get steam keys for cheaper. And only times I usually go buy direct from Steam these days is if a company doesn’t offer steam keys, so the only way to buy a steam copy is through steam. And prices for games feel like they’ve been so cheap that it’s the one thing I have no complaints about.
Their algorithm certainly made videos worse the moment they started priorizing the promotion of longer videos over shorter ones leading to an increase in incredibly long winded videos that waste everyones time.
Can we talk about the reddit design
