It's a Fair cop, with Alfie Moore, is one of my favourite shows to listen to. Such a shame I can only get it on BBC Sounds :ablobcatgrumpy:
@BBCRadio4 why no RSS feed? There's one for the Infinite Monkey Cage. It's a much better listening experience. :ablobcatreach:

Someone responsible for enforcing the code of conduct in a project reaches out to you to discuss your behavior.

Do you (1) listen to them in earnest, ask questions if things are unclear, and take the opportunity for introspection and improvement, or (2) interpret everything they said as a threat, immediately escalate it into an argument, and characterize the email as a harassment campaign targeted against you and endorsed by the employer of the conduct enforcement person?

🤦‍♂️

MyBeansAreBaked,
@MyBeansAreBaked@linuxrocks.online avatar

@drewdevault so this is about vaxry right?

I think his conduct was poor, but I do agree with many of his points and empathise with his feeling threatened weather or not it was justified. I do feel that, regardless of his conduct off platform, he is still deserving of being included in on topic technical discussions on freedesktop.

@BrodieOnLinux I feel live you shrug off undervolting a bit. You said it makes the card run slower, but that's not necessarily true afaik, it is just more unstable. You set the voltage limits and clock rates at specific power level bands. If you get it right, you use less power per clock so can increase the clock rate and thus performace for the same or less power and heat. This makes sense for example in crypto mining where you have a consistent heavy workload, all the fine tuning can pay off.

To truly divest from Big Tech, you’d probably need to “move into the mountains and live off the grid,” EFF’s @falsemirror told The Hustle. But you could at least try a diet - a sort of digital veganism. https://thehustle.co/originals/i-tried-a-big-tech-diet-it-didnt-go-well

Chris Fisher would be a great guest.

My final Hyprland issue is gone, screen capture portals at least from my testing are absolutely rock solid, previously the Hyprland solution didn't support pausing which caused some issues with OBS scenes, that's now gone.

There are a few general Wayland issues with gui toolkits being weird, and bugs with other applications but for my personal use case Hyprland does everything I need. There are obviously still missing protocols for other people like multi window stuff but that's true everywhere

MyBeansAreBaked,
@MyBeansAreBaked@linuxrocks.online avatar

@BrodieOnLinux You simply had to post this today, of all days. This day when on a Teams meeting I discovered that screensharing had stopped working in Hyprland w/Brave.

(It's Chromium and Teams though so I'll blame Google and Microsoft)

@BrodieOnLinux How many people coming from windows actually like or understand the interaction? I have watched people on windows struggle to open a file because they keep selecting it. Or try to select a file and start renaming it. But when they want to rename a file they can't figure it out. Its a terrible UX. Maybe something different but simpler is a good default.
