@puppygirlhornypost I got a few users to sign up at Shonk.Social. Would you be able to approve their accounts if they meet the requirements? :neocat_laugh::heart_cybre:

MikeH,

@NumbersCanBeFun @puppygirlhornypost Judging by how easily I got in, I don't think there is a manual approval procedure. I just had to say why I wanted to join and I was in immediately.

I think I just said that I want to try 'key's cool features, if I remember correctly.

I stumbled upon an Irish Band simply because they were named after a bird.

The band is Kingfishr and I got to say, quite stunning and cant stop listening to this song:

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/0Z375dvneNK9D6Bc5JnjhF?si=de518cccfe36494c

Youtube:

Let me know what you think or share your bird related tunes....

MikeH,

@JimsPhotos "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd; "Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac and, of course anything by The Eagles or The Byrds. All pretty obvious but it's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The Battle Part 2. - Reinforcements called.

The Graylag geese had strayed too near the Mute Swans domain and the Swan didn't take kindly to it

MikeH,

@JimsPhotos One on one I'd back the swan, two on one I'm not so sure.

People always go on about the KT extinction event and the utterly catastrophic impact the asteroid had. However, my "favourite" (horrible as it is to call it that) (not-exactly) extinction event has instead become the Great Oxygenation Event, where 80% of life on earth flat out died and the planet became terraformed (heh) because some stupid-ass bacterium learned to eat the sun really, REALLY well.

Not just the inhabitants, but the planet itself, the very composition of its atmosphere and just about all the rules changed as these bacteria slowly poisoned the air and rusted the oceans. It's... frankly mind-blowing the scale of it all.

And today it's just considered a super ordinary, rather unremarkable thing that there is a stupid amount of oxygen floating around freely in our atmosphere.

MikeH,

@ChiralTheAlien Yeah, that was certainly a major disaster. I mean, look what it lead to.

I saw a couple of Terns today. One was a Common Turn, but I am unsure of the second one.

HA!

So my girlfriends work told everyone a week ago that remote working would go from 8 days a month to 4, and this REALLY upset her fellow employees.

So much so that management had a special meeting where they told everyone that they weren't going to renew their lease next month and that they'd be looking for a smaller office space. And that anyone who wanted to could work remote permanently.

I LOVE IT! I GET MY LOVE BACK!!!

MikeH,

@Mrfunkedude That's good news and also something of a turnaround. I find it hard to believe that they made that decision in a week, unless it's a really small company?

The humans gave Voltaire (Saskatchewan, Canada) dinner before they went out. Now they are back, but Voltaire is pretty sure this means it is time for a second dinner.

MikeH,

@cat_news It's always time for second dinner, or lunch, or breakfast for that matter.

I really need to come up with a better system than piling up my running clothes in the corner of my closet until I run out.

MikeH,

@JustBrogrammer Have you thought of investing in a laundry basket?

I went on a walk this morning, and when I get home my husband says, "Make sure to take the rocks out of your pockets before they go in the laundry!"

He knows me so well, lol 😂

    MikeH,

@Cat_LeFey I would have thought that that was the sort of mistake you only made once?

Ropey shot of the day but i'll post it as its a lifer for me. It flew overhead out of the blue so it was a point and shoot moment.

The bird in question is a 'Black Tern' (non-breeding adult plumage I believe)

    MikeH,

@JimsPhotos I love the wing shape.

@Mrfunkedude It does? I only turned 55 once. How are you managing to not get older?

Speaking of, for some reason last night I fell into the rabbit hole of looking through jewellery of ancient civilisations, and while the context of some of the finds makes my stomach feel very poorly (seriously don't look this stuff up, you will have nightmares), I will say that, honestly, very fancy even today.

Our craftsmanship has certainly improved, we can work much finer much more reliably as our tools are incomprehensibly better than anything they would have had to work with, but they were indisputably masters of their craft.

    MikeH,

@ChiralTheAlien It depends on when you're making your comparison. The Staffordshire Hoard of Anglo-Saxon jewellery has some amazing workmanship that would be difficult to reproduce even now.

    MikeH,

@ChloeCat In my experience, drunks are one of three types: they either fall asleep (like me) or they get really chatty (like Mel) or there's the 'fighting drunk' who'll pick a fight with anyone/anything.
