Howdy y’all! Josh here. I’m a special educator by trade and hobbiest tech-tinker. I enjoy toying around with #SBC, #MiniPC, and trying out various #OS on bare metal. Oh, and I like building #MechanicalKeyboards and collecting #MacroPads.

I have been enjoying @somafm so much, that I picked up the iOS app. It has very nice UI and a lot of neat built in features. It is totally worth downloading.

#MangoPi Update 2:

I added the Mantic repo to the Mango Pi which is running Ubuntu Noble Numbat (24.04). With that being said, I now have #Newsboat installed!

I need more #RSS feeds! Give me all the RSS feeds! Text based please.

Currently I have RSS for:
@thelinuxcast
@thelinuxEXP
@adamsdesk
@amin
@geerlingguy

I think I have the MangoPi in its final form now that I have a good RSS reader.

Well I was able to do what I set out to do; my lil #MangoPi is an awesome little terminal #RSS reading machine!

Now I can follow @thelinuxcast, @benjaminhollon, @thelinuxEXP, and more from the humble command line :mastodon_oops:

I got an early start on the weekend! The main pc has been moved over to #Debian testing/ Sid and I updated #Neofetch.

Oh, and I am joining my homeboy from my home state, @thelinuxcast in the #2YearLinuxChallenge

I wasnt sure what snapshot to post, so here are the two I like the most

Well, I am feeling fancy. I added media keys to my split keyboard. I think it looks pretty neat.

It's true. The file mangers for GTK are sub par across the board.

Thunar should be it. But it doesn't remember closing position well. It's supposed to, but it does not. At least past 5 tabs. Also, it has this odd behavior where you open a tab thinking one pane is in focus, but it opens it in the other pane. Very annoying.

Nautilus is still the slowest thing I've ever seen because it does not like that I have my open home folder and the regular location of XDG-DIRS are empty.

Man, I like the idea of having a suckless system but when I read over the documentation I just start to think that the suckless crew are a bunch of dicks. Which makes me not want to be associated with the lot.

I spent a good chunk of the day slimming down my Debian install on the . I moved from (and uninstalled) to . I wholesale uninstalled many preinstalled apps (such as Libre Office, Emacs, Bluez, and much, much more).

I installed and I gotta say, it is running smooth. I am even able to run with out maxing out the CPU or RAM!

All in all, its been a good day.

@Wyatt IDK. I am just treating Neofetch as feature complete.

When push comes to shove, I will more likely move to Fastfetch since I can install that on all my devices.

@Wyatt outside of compiling myself, I do not think it’s available at this time for riscv

As an aside, I am not much of a fan of Plasma DE but I have to say KDE's stand alone applications have been super solid.

has been a solid and fast browser.

has been a great desktop solitaire game

and has been the most reliable and easy app that I have used on the desktop.
