The thing that stops me from moving to rss is that I don’t follow any news sites or blogs. I’ve tried but they all kinda suck to me. The only thing I follow is youtube creators and lemmy communities. Lemmy is my rss feed pretty much.
IT can be pretty fucking stressful. You really have to distance yourself a bit from the work. If you put to much heart in and blame yourself when things go wrong you’ll end up burning out and destroying yourself.
I’ve watched people enter info sec and it actually makes them so insanely paranoid I feel sorry for them. Especially the fella working for the charity that got owned. That’s got to feel awful.
I want to put the steak onto a hot pan to get that sear on the outside and uh lock in the flavor or something. But butter burns at high heats and oil doesn’t add flavor like butter....
This has been such a great thread I have so many new tricks to try out. I’m gonna have to buy more steak. I really want to try out the baking then sear. What heat would I bake it and for how long? Could I use an air fryer?
Even if Isreal agrees to trade hostages and end the war. Hamas is not going to forget what happened. Palestinians will be even more radicalized and the same shit will kick off again in a few years.
This whole war has fucked any ideas of peace for at least another decade or more. This trauma will be embedded in every Palestinian for the rest of their life.
I test Linux rhetoric on my sister to see what works. She often says Linux sounds so cool and aligns so well with her values but then she says she doesn’t care about computers and goes and buys a $2000 Mac to use as a web browser. It makes no sense to me and it’s hard to find out what will get people to make the jump to Linux.
She could have tried Linux on her current laptop for free and probably saved $2000 and knew this but instead buys and entirely new laptop and throws out the old one.
You don’t try and attract a specific demographic. You just create the space you want and if they also value that space you they will choose to participate. It’s not 2005 there are women on the internet everywhere. Lemmy has a lot of women compared to reddit and mastodon has a decent women userbase as well it feels.
Hexbear is a bad representation of lemmy ignore their demographic polls.
As for actionable steps I think we are doing a good enough job already. The communities here are not toxic. The users are mature and call out sexist stuff when it happens. The only thing we could probably do is host more content that women typically tend to enjoy but that will come with growth of the site and is better done organically.
I think its more fair to put the blame on the Armourer than to blame the actor. Still 3 years in American prison is to much to put on someone with no criminal intent. She should be put on home detention or community service for 3 years.
Yes but also these people are coming over from windows and this is their first experience with linux. They should have these apps available to them so they dont think oh linux has no apps.
I do this when eating food I don’t like and I used to be a very fussy eater. I was at my friends house and she cooked food and I was forcing it down to be polite and she asked if I liked the food. I said yeah its really good and she burst out laughing because apparently my face looked like I was eating a war head. She said I can tell when you don’t like something because you always scrunch your face. Apparently I used to do it in conversations as well.

Yes keep fighting I’m sure it will eventually work out for you! Follow the advice of activists who profit off the conflict and never have to face the realities of war.
