I'm getting very sick of every Fantasy and Sci-Fi author thinking they have to be George R.R. Martin and making their novels into huge series. Not everything has to be a series.

10leej,
@10leej@fosstodon.org avatar

@thelinuxcast I agree

Now that I've gone to completely digitial books, I doubt I will buy that many physical books. It's so much easier to carry around a book when it isn't the size of a... ya know... book. Plus I can read on whatever device I have in front of me and it all syncs. Kinda wish I'd gone digital ages ago

kdenlive on wayland is horrendous. Works fine, I guess, but if you want to try to move a panel around. How about no.

10leej,
@10leej@fosstodon.org avatar

@thelinuxcast Yeah wayland doesn't know how to work with multiple panels in a window since it's designed around single clients

I'm very dubious on the need for dedicated Mastodon clients on the desktop. On mobile, absolutely. Ivory is awesome and there are several on Android that are great. On the desktop, though, the webclient seems like the best option.

Trying out Tokidon again.

@RL_Dane To be fair youtube needs the telemetry data as that's their source of revenue and serving video is not cheap.

Also I have that case. I'm curious how it compares to the HL15 personally I think it's a pretty solid buy.

Finished The Thief by Megan Turner today. Not a bad book. Didn't see the ending coming, which was nice, or at least I didn't see it all coming. Still not much in the way of action, tbh, which is fine. Will do the second book later this month.

Hot Take:
Bug trackers like Bugzilla are great tools for a developer, providing a way to neatly layout issue discussions but especially Bugzilla absolutely suck for the user, are needlessly complex to interact with so I completely understand why users prefer to complain on Reddit

10leej,
@10leej@fosstodon.org avatar

@BrodieOnLinux It depends on how it's setup, Redhat's setup makes sense, KDE's definately not.

thelinuxcast, to openSUSE
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

I love :opensuse: It's my distro.

But I really think that they should consider ditching zypper and replacing it with dnf.

Parallel downloads on zypper has been a WIP since 2016. It's time to admit that it's never coming.

Do a lot of devs still do their work on Ubuntu 18.04? https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/02/vscode-drops-ubuntu-18-04-support-leaves-devs-screwed

I mean it seems like maybe it's time to upgrade? I can see servers still being onn 18.04, but to do actual dev work where you hace to test your code? Maybe something more modern?

10leej,
