William Harris Lee hosts an open house during Second Fridays at the Fine Arts Building, located on Michigan Avenue. In addition to featuring live music, people can tour their workshop and see how violins & other string instruments are made.
I'd like to offer a public #ThankYou to all of those #CEOs, human resources department heads, #VPs, and #managers telling employees to come back into the office "at least 3 days a week" because "we work better together".
You have saved countless people a collective amount of time that must be measured in decades if not centuries. We can immediately cross your companies off the "enlightened companies that treat their people well" list, and move on to the next.
As some of you may recall, I started offering mobile wallpaper as a win-win way to get something fun and support what I do in lieu of a Ko-Fi and all that. The first two haven't been runaway hits per se but there's been enough interest to think it's a fair idea to continue to add more options. ❤️
So I hope you might enjoy seeing the latest choice!
This is Chicagohenge, a twice-yearly event where the sun aligns with the axis created by our grid system of streets at the spring/autumn equinoxes. Instagram tip for tourists: plan to gather around 6:00p to get a good shot.
The Arcade's Trevor Project campaign has reached $140! Thank you to everyone for your kindness and generosity. As a result of passing the $100 milestone, chat voted on my next nail color....
... and here it is for the next 2 weeks!
Onwards to $200 and a retro gaming gambling stream (not for real money, just video game dollarydoos and fun times)
Apparently someone is threatening to have the instance I’m on defederated if they don’t get rid of me, because I posted that the Mastodon DM system is dangerously broken and non-intuitive.
So, if either of those things happen, it was nice knowing you all. (Well, some of you all, anyway.)
It is truly unfortunate that the cumulative effects of the bullshit accusations and complaints can add up to real-world consequences. Hopefully your employer and other complained-to parties are those rare stars that don't fold under that kind of pressure.
I don't think it's personal. Pretty much everyone with much of a platform gets these same deluded nuts complaining to their employer or school or family, or more.
I have an announcement for all Sakurajima (.moe and .social), Urusai.social, and Miruku.cafe users!
I just learned something that every #fediverse citizen user should know: When looking at a post or profile from an external instance that is not using the same platform as your instance, you should look at that post or profile on that instance. The reason why that is so important to know is because that not all instances will not display the complete post or profile of an external instance.
I learned this earlier today while discussing a few bugs with @panos and @naskya, mainly about reactions not going through.
I wanted to let everyone know about this because this is very important, especially since we're on different platforms: Urusai.social and Sakurajima.moe use glitch-soc (a variation of #Mastodon), meanwhile Sakurajima.moe and Miruku.cafe use #Calckey and #Foundkey (both variations of #Misskey) respectively. With everyone using different platforms and thinking that #ActivityPub would transfer everything over, there's bound to be misunderstandings.
That's why I wanted to let everyone know about this. #ThankYou all.
I have a #big#announcement: I am accepting #contributions to JokeBot! I added support for making JokeBot translatable into other #languages, and I need some help translating JokeBot into as many languages as possible, so it can be used by non-English speakers. If you would like to contribute, please see the contributing guidelines; you will see a section linking to a localization guide in these guidelines. Also, please make sure that you open an issue before you open a PR, so others will know that a #translation is a work in progress.
This is the Chicago Board of Trade, an Art Deco skyscraper that anchors LaSalle Street in Chicago’s Financial District. Represented Bruce Wayne Enterprises in Batman movies. The aluminum statue atop the building is Ceres, representing abundance.
