Jason Dallas & co show that the community of microbes inhabiting the guts of tadpoles contributes to their ability to withstand rising temperature & suggests that microbiome transplants could offer hope to species at risk as global temperatures rise
I don't know who writes some of these expert articles. I just read "15-35 tadpoles per gallon of water" when raising tadpoles. My 18" bowl cannot hold over 2 gallons (probably less). Since February I have successfully raised hundreds into frogs at some times having 150-250 at a time. In the drainage ditch from which a rescued my original batch 7 years ago the water can be black with tadpoles. 35 is nonsense. Always let experience be your guide. #frogs#tadpoles#nature
Spotted the babies this morning (very exciting). Went out just now to try for better pics. Found this little bubble stranded in the middle of the pond.
It is scorching hot today. My weather app says it's 98° right now (feels like temp 115°).
Dunno how long they were stranded, but I'm glad I found them in time. They seemed okay & swam off when I tipped them back into the pond.
Checked out our little home pond. Sticking phone underwater for tadpoles it’s hard to tell what’s in frame and focus. With the big frogs you just move slow and they totally don’t notice.
