It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek this week and we'll spending the week highlighting the issues that contribute to trans people being more likely to experience poor mental health. We'll also be sharing some self-care tips.
Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. - Anon
This is really beautiful and inspiring. NBA star Giannis Ugo Antetokounmpo talks about success being a process, and that failure is non-existent because it’s simply a step towards a goal.
We need more celebrities to show integrity like this. Being a role model is a big responsibility. Giannis got it right in this interview.
#Today I'm going to practice some self care and get my nails done 😊
I booked the appointment ages ago and now slightly regretting having to get my arse into gear to attend on a Saturday morning, but hopefully the results will be worth it!
Take a moment to notice the state of your body right now.
• Are you breathing shallowly? If so, consciously take 5 deep “belly breaths.”
• Are your shoulders tense? If so, roll them forward/backward 5 times. Tilt your head from left to right, trying to touch your ear to your shoulder.
• Is your jaw clenched? Smile. Unhinge your jaw and move your mandible in a circular motion.
• Drink a glass of water.
Make a habit to check/reset your body throughout the day.
