The EU is boosting its aerial firefighting capacity under #rescEU, the EU's strategic crisis response reserve.
€600 million in EU funds will be used to purchase 12 new planes, which will be hosted by Croatia, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Spain.
🚁 These planes will help extinguish fires across the EU, particularly during the difficult summer months when lives, homes, and livelihoods increasingly come under threat from large-scale #wildfires.
• 7 firefighting planes and 1 helicopter from the #rescEU reserve stationed in 🇨🇾🇨🇿🇩🇪🇭🇷🇸🇪.
• 6 ground forest firefighting teams from 🇨🇿🇧🇬🇷🇴🇸🇰🇨🇾🇫🇷.
• 305 first responders and 47 vehicles currently deployed.
