Well I'll admit that I stayed up a little bit later than I intended but I managed to hammer it out. Some thoughts on the #indieweb#smolweb#personalsites movement (whatever you want to call it) and, incidentally, the first update to my personal website in 6 months.
I don't know if the world needed another one of these think-pieces but for me, at least, it's a sort of statement of intent. At the very least I hope to put some more effort into my personal site.
For this week’s #FollowFriday I recommend a very unique account, Ryan Barrett @snarfed.org@snarfed.org
He works on https://fed.brid.gy — an important exploration on bridging different protocols in the social web.
If you open his profile (i.e., open original page) it’s actually just his #PersonalSite — a peek into a future where individual personal sites transcend any “social network”
I really like personal homepages and have quite a list of them bookmarked. I'll post one every week until I don't or unless I fall behind this schedule. 😉 So here's Cool Personal Homepages #CPH Vol. 14: starbreaker.org https://starbreaker.org/

#WebDev#PersonalSites#askfedi I want to host and redevelop my personal website/portfolio. My website is currently hosted in germany by awesome @ubernauten .
Am i obligated by law to put an impressum / adress on it, if i'm not selling anything and don't have cookies?
Currently living in switzerland.
@matthiasott do you have some hints? :ablobcathappypaws:

I'm still getting the rust off of the writing habit but it feels fantastic to say that the momentum is building, like settling into a gym routine that leaves you a little sore but still excited for the next session.
The index is still a bit hidden for now while my home page acts as a design portfolio and that's ok, it's intentional. Maybe that'll change later this year, no rush. Let's see where the garden grows and needs trimming, repotting, etc.
This took more time to finish once photos came into the equation, but is all the more better for it. It doesn’t capture the lows of 2023, and some deeply personal things aren’t mentioned, but I’m glad I put this together to look back on.

Hey I actually managed to create a small mood board for my website redesign tonight. 👌 At the current rate (calculates feverishly) the new version will go online in approximately 2028. 😅
Done some redesigning of my personal site lately. Condensed the landing page so that the eye is better drawn to where I want it. Fixed up the side nav bar (still a WIP). Also added badges to the footer. Nice to express my creativity this way :ablobowo:
At long last, I've updated my website! Micromanaged, just the way I like it :zerotwoevillaugh: It no longer uses Wordpress, and is instead less bloated, more mobile friendly--or as best as it can be with my skills--and best of all, easier for me to update LOL
I have tons of sections now, including more art, graphic design samples and comic pages. Please check it out if you'd like! :dittodance:
(And idk maybe a link exchange would be nice :ChikaBrows: )
If you have a personal website: what is your URL and why did you pick it? Is it your name? Is it a nickname/alias? Or something else? And are you happy with it or would you choose a different domain name today?
@matthiasott I’ve had flamedfury.com for over two decades now. I came up with it (how I don’t know) when I was a teenager and have used it in some type of capacity since then.
I don’t tend to use my real identity online so I’m quite happy with the domain and would never consider using a real name identifier for my personal websites.
I do have other domains that I use for mail for critical services unrelated to flamed fury.
