Right in the middle of Naha is Naminoue Beach, and on a small cliff above the beach are Naminoue-gu Shrine and Gokoku-ji Temple. We walked by the beach and shrine after getting to Naha from Yomitan but didn’t actually visit them until a couple of days later when we took a trip to the shrine in the early afternoon, had lunch, and then went back to go to the beach

After spending three days relaxing in Yomitan we made our way back south to the more urban Naha for three days. There was plenty to do there and on the first day we went to see Shuri Castle. Once the site of Ryukyuan royalty it was largely destroyed during WWII and rebuilt later. When we visited a few buildings were currently being rebuilt, with traditional techniques, following a fire that broke out in 2019

We decided to not go to the beach on our third day in Yomitan. Instead we planned to go to the Sango Batake coral farm (which also had a small aquarium) and then make our way to the Zakimi Castle Ruins. We did go to the coral farm, which was excellent, but decided not to go to the castle ruins because it was a little far and we didn’t have a car. We didn’t want to get stuck and have to walk like we had the night before
