As stated on their website, current Anytype release can offer you a solution for:
Daily journal
Strategic writing
Knowledge base
Trip planner
Study hub
Recipe book
Habit tracker
Data vault
As "evil" as it may seem, with app that combines basically everything, you might wonder if it will replace a bundle of #Notion with other stuff for all your #PKM and data preservation needs. Cool that it's #LocalFirst!
I am not sure if "Any Source Available License 1.0" really qualifies as an open source license yet. I'm not a lawyer, but it's abundantly clear that, of course, sublicensing is not allowed. Address to license in one of the repos to see if it suits you.
1️⃣ #Unread RSS Reader (@unread ) - THE best RSS reader out there. No competition. I use this daily.
2️⃣ #IceCubes (@IceCubesApp) - Easily the best Mastodon client you can get your hands on (and I’ve tried them all)
3️⃣ #Everlog (@wessley) - The most cost effective and beautiful looking journal app. I manually check for AppStore updates on this thing. Love it.
I've launched a 30 minute audit of your #Notion board to assess what's working, what's not, and get you back on track with Notion as a tool rather than a time suck.
Hello #PKM people, what do you do to ensure that your notes will be properly processed and isn't just stuff to occupy your folders? Meaning, how do you ensure that you extract value from them?
A question I am pondering as I have hundreds of notes now, and while I have made sure to turn some of them into articles, am not sure about everything else. Am curious to know how you extract value from your notes.
@omgubuntu#obsidian It's like #notion, but it stores everything on the computer, not in the cloud. We have air raids in Kyiv sometimes, and last winter we had blackouts because the Russians were bombing power plants and substations.
@joonhyeok_ahn Sure, but if some people want to do things other than or in addition to #PKM in #Notion or #Obsidian, it’s not a mistake. It’s a choice. And as long as they’re able to achieve what they want to do with those apps, it’s a perfectly reasonable one to make. Those are very versatile apps.
What's the best note taking application, I'm deciding between #notion and #obsidian
I've been using notion for a while now, but a lot of people are trying to convince me to go into the obsidian side.
My problem with that is that I want to use it in my mobile and in my computer but to do that in obsidian i need to pay..... Please I need some advice and opinions. #notionalternative
Alright. I will admit - I don't like a lot of the vibe on #Threads, don't like how they are promoting celebrities, or how clout and status centric it has been from literally the first hours at launch... BUT
Because I'm a #marketing and #comms professional, I do think I'll be staying there as long as others do. I'm already finding other marketing & #SEO people who I haven't been in touch with since Twitter in Nov. + lovely to reconnect with the #Notion community.
I want to develop a web project as a showcase for job recruiters. I'll be doing it in PHP (Laravel) or Java (Spring), with a MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL DBMS, and it will run on a browser. And I'd wish it could be something useful. But I don't have any (good) ideas. I'm really open to, and would appreciate, any suggestions, thanks in advance! :D
@array The most useful app Ive been using every single day after discovering, is #notion
So pissed that I was part of a team in the past with this same vision but they implemented it so much better.
Maybe build something useful to build other things. I see notion as an IDE for non programmers.
If you switched to #Notion a few years ago for your personal note-taking and now feel like it has become overly complex and bloated, let me tell you a secret:
You are not Notion’s target audience.
Notion is built for and targeted for enterprise customers and use cases. That’s why Notion is now 100% free for personal use, because they're not invested in that use case at all.
This is why people are transitioning from Notion -> Apple Notes; #AppleNotes is actually meant for personal use.
Man, if #Notion was faster it would be absolutely killer. I mean, it still kind of is, but it's just a bit sluggish. Tbf there's a fair bit going on under the hood, so I'm not gonna tear it to shreds for not being lightning fast, but man- how nice would it be if it was?

Now that I am done with school I’m reevaluating my #pkm setup. I’ve been using #notion#obsidian#devonthink#zotero Apple Notes, and several paper notebooks. I think it may be a little to complicated, so curious as to what and how everyone uses their #pkm tools.
For the #tana users - If the following was said, would it make you think twice?
Offline mode - Nothing is planned. Priority is collaboration and integration with other tools etc. Some very limited offline capability may be possible in the future.
I know that importing from #Notion into another tool may be formidable, but these two seem to be appealing to Notion users and support imports from Notion.
@milan To be quite honest, I can't even remember how I heard of them but I think once I saw local first/open source plus their mission to replace #Notion they had my attention. I know Notion is hugely popular online only app so I'm interested to see where they go with #AffinePRO . I'm also a wee bit guilty of loving to discover new #PKM software that's local first/open source with a robust free tier. I also love software that's single purchase to own like #OmniFocus or #DEVONThink or #Scrivener
What is your experience with pkms? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)
