Had some spoons this morning to sit down and look at different grocery store options, finally.
The one I'd been using isn't Loblaws, but it's a bit chain that isn't great either. And where I used to love their customer service and quality, the last little while it has steeply tanked. I'm talking multiple occasions of meat being ONE MONTH expired.
Found there's a coop grocery store 5 min away from the new place. So trying that this week!
Things I would really like to find the spoons to be better about doing:
🧼 Resetting the kitchen back to baseline every evening
🍱 Eating an actual lunch every day (apparently a handful of crackers isn't lunch?)
🥕 Go to the farmer's market and Asian market regularly
I think having a job is going to help with the last two a bit more. If I'm already out then stopping by the market takes less spoons. And I'll need to bring a lunch on days when I work at the barn.
✔ Finalize and email out tomorrow's schedule for the barn
✔ Full self-care shower (inc hair, shaving, and foot scrub)
✔ Send end-of-term potluck sign-up email for the barn
Still to do:
🍴 Finish clearing to the dining table and get that set up
📦 Unpack and put away kitchen stuff
✈ Carefully plan a trip next month
🧶 Finish the hair for my Ukrainian amigurumi doll
📚 Start reading books at bedtime again, not scrolling insta reels
🍞 Start the focaccia so it can proof overnight and bake tomorrow for Monday's lunch
🧼 Clean off the island from all the associated stuff that piled up yesterday so I can make dinner
🎲 DM my Ghibli campaign tonight
👖 Dry AND PUT AWAY my laundry
My broken and tired old lady brain has finally, mostly, gotten the hang of basic hiragana (pls don't ask me about how the katakana is going lol).
So now ofc the lessons in Genki have added kanji and my brain is struggling hard.
Hiragana at least is phonetic, sound it out... say the word. Kanji is a whoooole other thing and from what I understand it's just straight memorizing. Something I have never been good at.
I gave it a fresh squeezed orange icing glaze and topped with orange zest to really bring out the citrus notes and cuz we wanted something a bit sweeter. But even w/o that it's an incredible cake.
Absolutely had a slice for breakfast, I mean it's basically tea right?
🍌 bake banana bread
👖 locate pants that need hemming
🧵 hem said pants
🧺 check laundry schedule and maybe do laundry?
🎮 play some Tears of the Kingdom
🎲 decide what Dimension 20 season to rewatch next (Maybe USC?)
Also probably work a little bit. I need to at least send out the schedule for tomorrow and do a social media post.
It's funny, after partaking in two very chill yoga classes led by Scottee of the wonkee club at the weekend, I'm REALLY nervous to take the beginner's class by his friend Lucy B this morning.
Maybe it's because I didn't have time to psych myself out - I heard about the sessions the day I took them. This one, I signed up for weeks ago.
Going to conquer the brain weasels and do it anyways!
Despite yesterday's chaos I still managed to get to the butcher. There's a local butcher that's literally across the street from my new co-op grocery store.
They had some yummy chorizo that I'mma use in gumbo later this week. And I grabbed a packet of breakfast sausage patties (because I need to stop swinging by starbies to get a sammich b4 work).
Tried one this morning. HOLY SHIT that's so good. And the price is like, the same as the Johnsonville ones. So, yay?
Did another yoga class this morning. The Wonkee Club's practice this month are two sessions paired together, designed for morning/evening.
Had some trouble with the forward fold though... Uncertain if an instructor can help with this specific issue.
I really love how casual and comfortable the practice is. I wasn't bothered by my dog, I took a few moments to give him some love and attention and then continued with the session. It feels so... for me.
