Love this new mural on Paisley Road West in the Cardonald area of Glasgow. It features Winnie Drinkwater, the first woman in the world to hold a commercial pilot's licence, which she got in 1932 at the age of nineteen. She was born in Waterfoot in East Renfrewshire in Scotland in 1913 and died in New Zealand in 1996. The mural was painted by Spraywell Murala
A Phoenix rising from the flames on the side of Maryhill Community Central Hall in the north of Glasgow. This mural commemorates the Phoenix Ironworks, which was established at 52 Queen Street by Thomas Edington in 1797. It later moved to Garscube Road near the Central Hall, where the specialised in making ornamental ironwork. The site of the Phoenix Foundry became the Phoenix Park in 1891.
West Forsyth Street • "A sleeping Buddha" by Cal Oglesby
Missed the timing for this one as I made my way down Forsyth Street. On my previous visit the mural was obstructed by parked vehicles. This time the sun's position behind me created an unwanted shadow. Will return again on a sunny day for take 3. 😉
