📷 #PortfolioDay | This 35-picture postcard from 2000 was DIY PR, trying to get someone's attention who might give me a job, buy prints—something; I was skint.
An agent saw them. He was retiring and not taking on new photographers, but sent them around, and I got work within months.
The images were made in SF and Marin between 1990 and 2000. All models are amateurs.
Matt and me made our first pictures together in his garage apartment on Dolores/17th. No windows; the only natural light (and air) came in through vents at the bottom of the garage door.
I'm very excited to show you one of my first medium format photos that I took with my 70-year-old folding camera! In the photo, my wife with our over 18-year-old dog. 🥰 📷
