Out and about on a little urban #kayak tour today on this sunny day in #Berlin.
The wind had become quite strong in the course of the morning as well as the waves from motor boats (that hit you multiple times because of the reflection at the steel piling) so my decision for an early bird activity was really good.
It took me long enough, but I've finally built a #kayak cart that should be safe to tow (from a bicycle) for 20 or 30 miles. The wheels have actual bearings and the kayak is suspended in a hammock. Swinging suspension arms act as shock absorbers.
The whole thing breaks down with no tools and stows inside the kayak.
I've taken it around the block, but let me get reasonably hydrated and I'll take it out for 5 or 10 miles to see if I can get used to it.
My wife decided to make a video of me leaving on my test ride. She was sure something horrible would happen. Someone would steal the kayak, I'd fall down, the kayak would break, I'd lose the kayak on the side of the trail... It was a long list.
The only bad thing that happened was that I was slower than expected and had to eat a cold dinner.
As the weather gets nicer I'm thinking about getting out on the #Kayak again.
I'd like to log my paddles, in the past I used my banglejs to record GPS position but it's not working anymore.
There are many cheap GPS trackers available but they all seem to use a sim card to report location on demand, where I want to log to SD or something and get the data out later.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
