Sunspots are most common near the height of the 11-year cycle. The current cycle, number 25, is expected to reach its peak this year. The more sunspots, the more opportunities for solar flares.

HelioCloud is a new, collaborative, cloud-based tool for heliophysics scientists and students to rapidly access and analyze high-volume datasets from a web browser. The computing environment is available in the cloud with access to 600 TB of data from NASA’s Heliophysics Digital Resource Library or can be downloaded to be used locally.
