#GreaterSageGrouse is a remarkable species unlike any other. This iconic species is losing its #habitat. Since 1965, the population has declined by 80%.
The #sagebrush plains are the only place where the greater sage #grouse lives. Losing more habitat to drilling, mining or other human activity would threaten this #bird and its wondrous mating display.
A less well known viewpoint on the Lynn Peak route, looking towards the Grouse range. Appropriate as the deep booming sound of the #grouse reminded me I was but a visitor to its terrain. The rocks I was sitting on were scarred by glacier induced striations, which was impressive as they're at 900+m altitude. #mountains#phonephotography#nature#hiking#britishcolumbia
#grouse Really tired of being stuck using third-party web services that ostensibly organize a company's information but have shitty-ass search.
Listen, I don't care what your excuse is for using tokenization that prevents a plaintext search. "K-1 tax" is an extremely cromulent work-related topic for an employee to search, and your system matching that to every Goddamn freestanding "K" in the entire doc archive is embarrassing for you.
Google "solved" big data search like twenty years ago. I'm begging companies: please read some of their publications. Stop burdening me with shitty search.
Western (European) capercaillie, also known as a wood grouse. Captured from the frozen surface of Lake Inari in northern Finland. We have been cross-country skiing there for a week, sleeping in huts on numerous islands. It was cold and windy, with almost no sun at all. This guy might have been the only bird we saw this week!
Spruce grouse today in the boreal forest, about 45 mins flying time north east of La Ronge. The look they gave us was one of "What the hell are you?" It is quite possible that we were the first humans they have ever seen.
A female spruce grouse standing in the middle of an old oil lease road in the Alberta foothills. Not sure what it was doing there as there wasn't much in the way of food or grit, but spruce grouse are like that: randomly showing up in a spot. #WildCanada#Alberta#grouse#birds#birdsofmastodon#birding
