Its not important to use a #fediverseIcon on a website, but if one wishes to, having collaborated on a #fediverseIcons for 3 years (to the day), we consider this design (called #butterFedy) to be the most sensible.
Following Jan 3 #ProofOfKeys (Encryption) Day someone preferred that the added 'bitcoin accepted' icons be left out of the set, in case people were triggered by non-political, sound money.
On fedi since 2019, causing chaos for fascists. We foresee a tragedy gilded with growth ideology, so fight for #degrowth.
In 2020 we were booted from f'book, where we were already #shadowbanned for talking on #Assange's plight, advocating #NoMoreWar, calling out exit scams, educating how proprietary apps for #contactTracing were bad, and more.
Seeing suppression across #legacyMedia does something to you.
In the perennial search for the perfect #fediverseIcon we were inspired to transform the previous version into a proper #butterfly we called #butterFedi. A number of people liked that idea.
The problem with the above ButterFedi was the straight, geometric nature of it ws conflicting with the organic vibe we want to highlight about the #fediverse
As such here's a prototype of a more organic variant.
A more complete version of a #fediverseIcon that we call #butterfedy (v3). It is inspired by a winged critter that hopefully is obvious.

It would be great if #fediverse had a usable icon for friends, family and local small-to-medium size businesses to put on their #eepsites and websites.
There's a lot of focus on #journalist#Xitter to #Mastodon migration, but the overall story is quite a bit bigger I think.
The #Fediverse offers huge opportunity for independent journalism in a world where so much of #news media are consolidated and in the hands of shady mogul billionaires. In other words Fediverse is both a threat to existing business models, as well as market opportunity.
We discussed removing the three trianlge version and just focus all the attention on the simpler design but we've been snowed under.

First step to having people accept a new thing is to have a palatable icon for it that doesn't instantly repulse. It boggles us when people don't realise how repulsing the pentogram actually is.
The following are of the party colouration but using lines in the style of #arcticons a theme for #handhelds. As such we welcome @donno and @joel to have their say.
PNGs are not uploaded yet but it's trivial to download the SVG and convert them to PNG using #Inkscape. We strongly recommend PNG for #TorBrowser users who cannot view SVG.
