: King Cathaír Mór had a dream, in which a woman was pregnant for eight hundred years, finally giving birth to a son near a fragrant, singing fruit tree. His #druid explained to Cathaír that the lady was the River Slaney that ran near Tara, her child the harbor at its mouth, and the singing tree the king himself.

The so-called "Warrior of Hirschlanden" may be a sacral king. He wears a hat or helmet that tapers upwards - possibly comparable to the find of the #druid from Hochdorf - a torc and a belt with a typical Hallstatt dagger. All these symbols point to a higher rank of the person depicted. The man could be wearing a mask. The interpretation as a mask is likely due to the narrow eye sockets, a flat nose and a mouth slit. All facial features appear to be slightly shifted downwards. #Celtic

Returned to my workbench recently, and tonight I finished sanding on the largest staff I've made yet-- it's an inch or two taller than I am (5 foot 11) and is as wide as a soda can at the head end.

I've decided I'm going to inscribe references to as much of the knowledge I've gained in my Druidic pursuits on its surface as possible. I'm hopeful I can do enough to submit images of it, with explanations, as my Druidic review to formally finish the grade with OBOD.

While studying with the hermit Finnéces/Finegas was left to watch the salmon of wisdom turning on a spit. But the salmon splattered onto Finn’s thumb, and he stuck it in his mouth to salve the pain. Thus did Finn gain all the salmon’s wisdom. From then on, all he had to do was suck on his thumb and he would enter an altered, visionary state in which he could see past, present, and future. As all the names of the characters in this story are connected, the salmon has been seen as a triplication or intensification of Finn himself.

Here in the open air again, if we celebrate at Parliament hill, we have the use of the stone of free speech (earth), the first fire of spring (the censer), and the sword of aither or spirit: and transformed water (wine) is given by the Spring lady, as well as atom-seeds for growth.

It was because of the early demise of #Fionn mac Cumhaill's father that the feminine energy in his early life became so important. The most significant influence on Fionn’s childhood was his aunt and foster mother, the #druid Bodhmall. Her education was furthered by Liath Luachra/Luchra, who trained Fionn in the martial arts and whom he accidentally killed.

Jaedia, to paganism

Hello to here! A quick little introduction as this is an alt account for now. My name is Hannah, I go by Jaedia online.

I'm a pagan witch - mostly working within Celtic Paganism (English and Welsh, primarily), Druidry, a little Norse Paganism (I grok Heathenry a lot but I lean much more Celtic/Druid), and Anglo-Saxon. And then intuitive witchcraft, British traditional folk, Hedge witchery, and fairly Wiccan inspired (though I do not practice Wicca, I have to give credit where it is due). Sooo... I usually just say "pagan witch" and perhaps "eclectic" because I follow where the path leads. 😅

I also work with tarot and other card-based divinations, incense and candles, tea, dreams, energy... many things.

I'd love to learn more about the runes and nature divining and so many things but have learned not to bite off things before I'm ready.

"Outside of magickal things" (because are they really?) I cross stitch, I GM for a lovely TTRPG group, I play video games, I read books and watch movies, series, and anime - particularly love horror, fantasy, history, folklore and scifi.

Oh and I'm from Britain. Born and raised in the East Midlands, currently living in South Wales along the coast. I adore old parks, castles, Cornwall and Glastonbury, finding magickal things where the mundane believes they have a hold. :chickwizard: It's lovely to be here!

#Finnéces was eager to gain all the knowledge that the Salmon of Wisdom had from eating hazelnuts. For seven years the #druid had been waiting for just the right moment to gain the wisdom that the salmon held within itself. When the time was right, Finnéces/Finegas caught the fish, who came to his line as though by prearrangement.
The old druid set the fish to cook, leaving the boy #Fionn mac Cumhaill to watch it and warning him not to touch it or taste it. But the salmon sizzled and spattered onto Fionn’s thumb, which he stuck into his mouth to ease the pain. Immediately wisdom flooded him—the very wisdom that Finnéces had been hoping to attain.
