As I was driving around Carson Lake, I spotted a Loggerhead Shrike giving a solo performance. So I stopped for awhile to watch them sing and snapped a few pictures.
The look that I got! "No photography during the concert!"
I stopped by today the muddy pool at which I saw a Curlew four days ago, just to see this. White-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla, 🇩🇪 Seeadler, 🇵🇱 bielik). This must be some exceptional muddy pool. I need to visit it more often.
Bee-eaters (Merops apiaster, 🇩🇪 Bienenfresser, 🇵🇱 żołna) literally feed on bees and other stinging insects, such as wasps or hornets. To avoid being stung, they remove the sting from the insect they catch by smashing it against a tree while holding it in their beak.
This image is a detail from my watercolor painting American Bald Eagle portrait, which I painted in landscape format. I have cropped it to a modern square format.
Not the best photo I took today in a technical sense but the best for personal reasons... I haven't documented Brown-headed Nuthatches in the yard since we lost the last of our oaks in Hurricane Katrina 19 years ago!
