I can’t remember what I was listening to that made me think to suggest #TheLongGoodbye as a #TuneTuesday prompt, but with my goal of posting queer musicians all month, it likely doesn’t matter.
As a function of the overall runtime of this song, the ~2 min outro isn’t super long, but the excruciating tempo drop, downright hostile abuse of dissonance, and the aggressively destructive production techniques, it feels a lot longer than it is. I like it, but YMMV
Not bad by any means, just ridiculously, indulgently long. They played it live when I saw them and a girl nearby was like 'are they going to go on for ten minutes?' Fortunately, they did not, as the crowd would have got a bit restless, I think.
Today's theme is brought to you by @VestigialLung and it is: #TheLongGoodbye Songs that have really long outros, both good or bad.
Now my choice is a song that is literally called "Long Slow Goodbye" and the song itself does have a long outro which perfectly closes the album "Lullabies To Paralyze".
For #TuneTuesday#TheLongGoodbye ... long outros are not really a common KPop thing, however this track is a classic and has a cool dance break outro that you gotta love. And they look like such babies! :blobhaj_heart:
It's Tuesday again and that means there's a new theme for #TuneTuesday as ever hosted by @Kitty and their trusty tin of themes , this week the Sortomatic mk666 has launched @VestigialLung 's #TheLongGoodbye out into the Fediverse. Songs with long outros . Here's the first one that came to mind for me. Metallica: Fade to Black https://yewtu.be/watch?v=9HZ_tx8aWuA
My choice has to be I Want You (She’s so Heavy) by The Beatles which stretches the outro to an almost unbearable level of tension for three minutes before cutting out. Absolutely amazing.
It's a perfect track to end an album that really speaks to the core of my emotional landscape, and it has about two and a half minutes of tenderly feedback-drenched lead-out.
But if you buy the remaster, there are another three bonus tracks tacked onto the end, which kind of kills the mood.
(I also slightly prefer the mix of the 2000 album, probably just because I'm so intimately familiar with it. This record and I have been through shit together, friends.)
This week in #TuneTuesday, #TheLongGoodbye prompt or songs that have really long outros, both good or bad.
Great song, but the outro… They win no Oscar for editing.
There’s too many dedications: be it peeps that I met during the original 30-day challenge or people that I’ve met recently.
We’ve all got to know one another and we all, kind of, look out for each other.
So here’s a song that sums up my experience of mastodon and the freedom I’ve found here. 🤟🏽❤️🤘🏽🥳🎸👊🏽🎵😎
Okay, so this week's Tune Tuesday from @Kitty has a theme of "It's For You" from @derthomas. The idea being you can dedicate a song to someone on Fedi.
"The fedi is great because of the people on it. @derthomas asks you to share a song that you'd like to dedicate to someone on the fedi "
I dedicate this song to @DemocracySpot, who was one of the first people I found on the fedi that was playing the funk. In time, I discovered that we graduated high school in the same year (or thereabouts) and have many of the same memories of funky tunes from back in the day... :ablobcatheadphones: Have a good Tuesday, Eddie!
This week's #TuneTuesday is #itsforyou - dedicating a song to someone (or everyone) on the Fediverse. Thank you, as always, to @Kitty for presenting this, and to @derthomas for the theme.
This is for you, and for everyone who loves the Fediverse and the sense of connection it brings.
"Here's to you, my little loves / With blessings from above / Now let the day begin"
