This story called "Let Justice Roll" is about the organization I'm a part of to make a difference in #SoFla#SouthFlorida
Since we're kicking ass and taking names in one of the largest most powerful counties in the country, #Tallahassee is trying to undercut our work from six hours away.
Ok #SoFla people #Miami folks. There's a #pet crisis right now as the shelters are full. I'm thinking of adopting a second dog. Obviously, Miami Dade County Shelter is a place to start but both they and the Miami Humane Society have limits on their webpages that make it harder to search.
I'm looking for an adult dog that is between 25-50 pounds and good with cats and dogs. Any recs on shelters to check out? To avoid?
Re-upping this. I'd be happy to take feedback on it. Thoughts. Whatever.
But Miami Dade County is trying to pass the first county level ordinance in the nation to protect workers from heat related illness and death. It would be the ONLY such law not in a state on the Pacific Ocean.
Don't live in WA, OR or CA? You likely do NOT have ANY protections from heat related illness.
@jmb the cvs I use in #SoFla had us reschedule our COVID shot appt last week. Why? They were scheduling COVID shots in the last two hours of the day.
When only the pharmacist was in the pharmacy.
In other words they were expecting her to prep the vaccine, prep giving the vaccine, give the vaccine all while operating the counter and filling prescriptions.
By herself. CVS made over $4B in profit last year.
“The Embassy of #Cuba in Washington, #DC, was "the target of a #terrorist attack," when two Molotov cocktails were tossed at the building on Sunday night, according to Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
Embassy staff "suffered no harm" and "details are being worked out," Rodríguez Parrilla said”
@GottaLaff yikes. There was the Reichstag Fire that helped bring the Nazis into power.
This would be a different fire with potentially the same result if we're not careful. If the US helps prosecute and prevent a violent attack like this the right will spend weeks saying Biden is PRO Cuba regime.
In #SoFla many Cuban Americans already do think this.
On July 18th, in a unanimous 11-0 vote, the Miami-Dade County Commission approved the Miami-Dade Heat Standard for Outdoor Workers on first reading, advancing it to the Community Health Committee for a public hearing. Once passed, this standard could become the country's first countywide heat standard for outdoor workers, protecting nearly 100,000 Miami-Dade outdoor workers in agriculture and construction with essentials like water, shade, and rest periods.
Y'all understand the lawyers pick the jury, right? It's going to start with a cross section of citizens in South Florida (MDC, Brow, PBC) and in DC, but the lawyers are going to do everything they can to find juries they like or at least can live with.
#SoFla voted overwhelmingly for #Biden but because that number was smaller than what voted for Hillary people think it's #Trump country but it is not. Biden received 58% of the vote in South Florida. A 16 point victory.
The question in #SoFla isn't can the DOJ find 12 willing to convict Trump, it's can Trump's lawyers find 12 jurors willing to acquit Trump in a +16 Biden region of the state.
The answer is, OF COURSE THEY CAN.
While Biden won an massive 93% of the vote in #DC Trump won 18,586 votes.
Can Trump's lawyers find just twelve people willing to acquit?
Setting aside the overall potential jury pool may be bigger than just DC, OF COURSE THEY CAN FIND TWELVE PEOPLE WILLING TO ACQUIT.
#BiltmoreHotel is the landmark of #CoralGables
The hotel was built in 1920’s and used as a hospital during the war.
Went for Christmas brunch today with my coworkers and learned about the history of the hotel for tre first time.
