For six months, the US and the EU has failed at limiting Benjamin Netanjahus actions in Gaza.

Now, his government has approved the bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, thereby potentially pushing The Middle East towards a wider war.

Is that really what we want? War in The Middle East in midst a war with Russia, straining our resources, potentially tempting China to make a move on Taiwan, and sending our generation into an actual World War 3 which could last a decade?

Change the path.

#SocialMedia #Twitter #ShadowBanning: "Users of Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) continue complaining the platform is engaging in shadowbanning — aka restricting the visibility of posts by applying a “temporary” label to accounts that can limit the reach/visibility of content — without providing clarity over why it’s imposed the sanctions.

Running a search on X for the phrase “temporary label” shows multiple instances of users complaining about being told they’ve been flagged by the platform; and, per an automated notification, that the reach of their content “may” be affected. Many users can be seen expressing confusion as to why they’re being penalized — apparently not having been given a meaningful explanation as to why the platform has imposed restrictions on their content.

Complaints that surface in a search for the phrase “temporary label” show users appear to have received only generic notifications about the reasons for the restrictions — including a vague text in which X states their accounts “may contain spam or be engaging in other types of platform manipulation”.

The notices X provides do not contain more specific reasons, nor any information on when/if the limit will be lifted, nor any route for affected users to appeal against having their account and its contents’ visibility degraded." https://techcrunch.com/2024/03/18/x-shadowban-complaints/

There's no on Mastodon.

People just sometimes don’t see your toots anymore because someone else on your server who you've probably never even heard of violated some policy you didn't know about on some other server that you've also never heard of, and their admin decided to mute or defederate your server, all of which you probably don't have any practical way of finding out about.

But shadowbanning? No. That's a twitter thing. We don't do that here.

We were just wondering. You do know that 2020 was a time of increased concentration of wealth, right?

400 billion to the top 1 percent, or something akin to that.

You have seen the money supply chart, and the quadrupling of it (in Australia, sixtupled). It is not "deranged" to talk about this stuff in the context of technology, given the types of discussions at the time, including quotes from US congresspersons. Heck Trump wanted forced sale of a tech company to Oracle. Stay well.

We think that people are genuinely scared to entertain notions and evidence of , even on fedi there appears a very pervasive set of instances/hosts that seem to marginalise people drawing connections to military and bigTech.

Or boot them off entirely.

We don't know what happened to a lot of people on fedi over the years who were speaking up against genuine fascism, not or that passes as it now.

Privacy is important even on fedi.

Musk's Twitter rolled out a bewildering array of "verification" ticks, each priced higher than the last, and publishers who refused to pay found their subscribers taken hostage, with Twitter downranking or their content unless they paid.

(Musk also squeezed advertisers, keeping the same high prices but reducing the quality of the offer by killing programs that kept advertisers' content from being published along Holocaust denial and open calls for genocide.)
