I played more Red Dead Redemption 2 today, taking a brief break to eat dinner! This game has some rather good missions, amusing banter between friends and outlaws. Chapter 3's story is goofy, thrilling, and overall entertaining due to the plot evolving as it is.
Since I got nothing going on tomorrow, beyond doing a quick snack run tomorrow; I'm probably going to stay up playing more Red Dead Redemption 2 after a break.
Arthur seems like a gruff guy, but really, he's got a heart of gold underneath all that bluster. His kindness is tempered by practicality though, leading him to make truly pragmatic decisions at times. Heartless, some would say, but survival wasn't an assured thing back then. You really had to fight for it (still do).
My play session of Red Dead Redemption 2 went really well, Arthur didn't suffer any ignoble deaths this time around. Plus, I was able to buy a few more outfits (fashionista cowboy here, gotta look handsome while gunning fools down 🤠).
Moved on to Chapter 3 which moved the gang to a new spot on the map! I might see about filling some requests from fellow gang members and earn enough cash to pay off my big ass bounty. The law still has not forgotten about it, dammit Micah! 🙃 🤬
Before work, I had Arthur rob a train with the bros and captured some bounties! While this was incredibly profitable, robbing trains will be a quest activity only. As it would be tricky to pull off well solo. Bounties are easier to capture and it helps me keep Arthur’s honor fairly high.
I upgraded my guns after getting this big payday; getting incredibly distracted due to random events out in the RDR2 world. One day, I’ll hunt small game for a quest. 🤣
Instead of hunting like I planned, I acted as a Bounty Hunter to raise my Honor and make some money! After browsing the Gunsmith's Catalogue, I realized that I could have a Varmint Rifle for free! This makes hunting small animals much easier, as using a bow and arrow can be tricky at times. Called it quits early as the more sleep I get, the better a hunter Arthur will be when I play in the morning.
At work thinking about what would make Red Dead Redemption 2 a better game. One of those things would be not restricting Manual Saves during missions! I always reach a point where I’m done in a mission but can’t leave until a mission is finished. It’s gotten to the point where I avoid missions which will interfere with my ability to save and quit; unless I am certain that I want to continue playing.
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds When I finished the single player (which I loved) I tried the multiplayer with others and I didn't like that at all.
I think the single, and to some extent, multi, could have been an amazing experience if it was set up as a survival game. If the mechanics of eating/sleeping/staying warm etc were balanced to not be a chore/boring, RDR2 could've been a real classic.
@Strider Yeah, the survival aspects are less challenging but it’s not too bad as I always carry outfits for the different temp ranges of weather on my horse. I think the Bounty System is quite shitty, as I could follow the instructions to the letter in regards to avoiding a hefty bounty. Somehow, I still get one. Right now, Arthur has a $295.00 dollar bounty on his head. 🥴
Self indulgent, unskippable skinning sequences are another annoyance holding this game back.
@dustin Agreed. I feel like the forced update of RDR2 is acceptable... if I started up the game and pressed Online... because I guess they need to keep the online game up-to-date to avoid cheaters and whatever.
But the offline mode? And now I need a Rockstar Game Launcher? It's kinda stupid.
Granted, Steam forcing everyone to vote for every category in order to get the points is probably what caused (parts of) this issue, but
why was it even nominated? At this point, it's hard to find a game that is as abandoned as RDR2
why didn't people vote for any of the other games nominated? All were a better choice.
I know I'm raging about it way more than I should but to me, this is why democracy doesn't work. Because people are stupid fucks that can't even vote for their own good.
Playing a lot of RDR2 for the first time. The minigame "Five Finger Filet" annoys the hell outta me. So wrote an AutoHotKey script for it. It goes about 12 fillets(?) per round.
`#NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
; #Warn ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.
SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.
keys := ["s", "d", "a", "s", "a"]
SetKeyDelay, 0, 50
^a::
While !(GetKeyState("x", "P"))
{
for key, val in keys
{
Send {w down}
Sleep 50
Send {w up}
Sleep 100
Send {%val% down}
Sleep 50
Send {%val% up}
Sleep 100
}
}`

(change the keys array every round).
A wise man once told me that technology isn’t about making simple things complicated. It’s about making complicated things simple.
The code for the prompt would probably be twice the size of the rest, and would take quite a bit more time than it would save. Sounds like you had the right idea in leaving it out. I can never keep myself to those obvious limits and it’s always such a waste automating for hours to save seconds lol
